Ok, I forget who it was to post it... but I have spent a bit of time checking out bravenet.com
and... I really really like what I see.
Not only can we host our own domain name for DC for really cheap, but for the actual dynasty makers... you will love what I have seen.
First off... there is a freakin visual editor. Therefore, for those of you that don't know HTML too too well this is a very very very very big help. It makes designing the site a lot easier, also probably easy to make it look professional.
This also makes updating much easier as well. Stats, schedule, links, EVERYTHING IS SO MUCH EASIER
It seems that for me, an average update takes a good... 45 minutes with all the HTML I use... using the visual editor... it would take say... 20 or so.
I also think it would help recruit new members. Needing to know less HTML skills and faster and easier updates it shouldn't be too hard.
Otherwise the same thing as freewebs would apply. The rating committee, the main dc page, etc.
Please just give it a look before you shoot it down. I understand it may be tough to convert what you already have on freewebs but honestly I think it will be worth it in the long run.
I'm going to talk to Ryandman and Maize about it a bit more before any final decisions are made too.

Ok im registered. For the 'select an address for your website' which one should I chose? im uncertain about the idea at the moment because transfering and redoing links from freewebs is a pain in the ass but I'll work on an NCAAB page and see where I go with it until I feel motivated to plug in my 49ers html

This is part of the reason I haven't started anything yet....thought somethin like this may come up.
If you guys feel that it's in the best interest of the site to do this, by all means do it.

In the long run I feel it will be worth it. It is sooo much easier to update...
and as for the address... I just chose the first one

I really, REALLY, do not like the rating committee at all. The people on it I have no problem with, just the idea in general.

I'm not the biggest fan of the rating system either. I'm still looking into stuff like that with my free time. I just haven't found anything...
As for this idea... maybe we will allow users to do either freewebs or bravenet. However the site would probably be done on bravenet and I'm positive mine would be as well.

also Bravenet allows 1.5 GB of bandwidth per month which is a lot better for the main site

It looks nice. Especially for cats like me who aren't too hip to the HTML game just yet, all the pre made webpages don't look exactly alike

I haven't had time to check things out over there but everything sounds good. Just know that I will NOT be transferring my site to bravenet and whether or not we accept freewebs dynasties or not is up to you guys.

Im with ryan, my 49ers page will stay on freewebs because the thoughts of transfering stuff does not appeal to me.
But so far, it looks promising.

I think we could just give the option of where you would like to go. I will be transfering everything over to Bravenet because of how much time I will personally save updating. Just my two cents.

Ok, there we go... silverchaosvii.bravehost.com/index.htmlI took me about an hour and a half... I transfered everything over and fixed all the links. Everything should be completely set and ready to go. Plus updating will be much easier for me from now on. I really think this would be the way to go, it is a lot easier for those who don't know much about HTML so recruiting members would be easier. Plus there are plenty of pre-made templates for them. I really encourage those who have made freewebs sites to transfer them over... I'm one game into the season and have A LOT of pages already and it only took an hour or so. The worst part was changing all the links but even that wasn't bad. Ryan... obviously it is understandable with you since you are so far into yours lol, but I really do encourage everyone else to.

Yea, I figured once I posted that site, you would like it. I couldn't believe how cheap it was and the visual editor was simply amazing to me. No more editing on my desktop, then copying and pasting. I will for sure set up my WWE and Bama chise now because I love Bravenet.

I hate and I mean hate that copy paste shit from my desktop... now I can sit there and make adjustments to stat pages and whatnot in half the time with that visual editor. Thanks for the find. We are currently in talk about what will be going on with the main site currently. Updates as soon as possible

I vote bravenet. Freewebs = pissing me off. If my stuff disappears for awhile one more time, I'm tracking the creator of Freewebs down and pissing down his throat.

bravenet is free as well and I don't have nearly as many problems. It seems like Maize, and me are leaning towards changing everything over to bravenet. Besides what ryan made in this post i'm not sure how he feels.

I haven't been able to set up a bravenet account, but I'll try it again this weekend. If we have the option to do both then, I may just go with my NCAAB dynasty on there.
