really everybody packs on the muscle differently. It's based upon genetics and your hormone levels. Someone with athletes as parents or someone with a higher natural level of testosterone will usually be able to build muscles faster.

Since you're still growing it may not be ... but once you stop, it will become very hard to add lean muscle mass. You're body burns muscle for energy before anything else ... which is why it's so difficult to maintain muscle mass without solid diet 24/7 and solid lifting ... I take a week off from the gym every 10 weeks for recovery ... in that week I lose at least 4-6 pounds in that week and after the next ten weeks of lifting, I will have gained at most 6-7 pounds back of lean muscle mass. It's a hard process to go through ... I promise ... Like I said, I wasn't discounting what you said, but I didn't take fully into account that you are still growing and that's probably where it came from. Its not hard to put on that much muscle if your working extra hard. My friend who just came back from the army just put on 15 pounds of muscle in about 5-6 months. 5-6 months = 20-24 weeks Boot Camp is solid work everyday ... solid workouts week in and week out can add on up to a pound a week ... that's feasible. Most of the guys in here are still sub-21-ish and are still growing for the most part so of course it's "easy" to add on muscle. I'm telling you that as you age and enter real world 9-5 jobs and get married, trying to maintain and/or add on muscle mass is HARD!!! Genetics play a huge part, but only if you want/need them to, like if you're looking to compete in bodybuilding, but for most other purposes your genetics aren't as vital ... most people I know don't have a goal to stand in front of a crowd in a thong showing off their body ... and I'm guessing that encompasses this group too.
