Spartan, didn't you leave when you broke up with your girlfriend or something?
Also, arguing like crazy is pretty defensive...

Spartan, didn't you leave when you broke up with your girlfriend or something? And what does that have to do with the people of this site exactly?

regarding your armed forces/band quote honestly I have never met someone who said:
"Pssh engineering? Who wants to make 100K a year when I can get shot or be homeless for a living?"
seriously I would bet that 95% percent of "smart people" end up taking courses that challenge them on some level. If you're "smart" and then you don't use it to better your economic and social situation you're not smart you're a frickin idiot.
and freaks comment goes to your questionable rep here.

I was just wondering. You mentioned how you haven't left the site and just wondered about it. I thought you did some time back. You say this stuff doesn't get to you. Yet, you get your panties in a bunch over my question.

So wanting to make 100k a year is more important than fighting for your country? I know smart people who just don't want to do anything big. Why does that make them a frickin idiot?

Yet, you get your panties in a bunch over my question. I answered yours. Did I start swearing at you or something? I'm sorry it came of that way, and maybe I didn't make it more clear. That would be my mistake.

I would rather have 100K a year then fighting in a pointless war because of some d-bag of a president.

I'm trying to be more considerate Freak. This is the first step. Answering your question in a calm manner without "tough" words.

Yes in my opinion doing something like an engineer or a doctor or hell even a lawyer if you are fully capable of it is more important that dying for basically oil rights. And I consider people who do not take advantage of their intelligence to be incredibly stupid and short-sighted cause I know for a fact that they will look back on their sad life thinking "if only..."

Now I understand what you're saying with the "What if..." factor. I also didn't know if it was some random war we were talking about, not the Iraq war.

any war to be honest if one of my friends gave up being something like a lawyer or a engineer for being shot at I would call them a meathead and punch them in the face. Wow I actually just realized that my best friend is going to do this. He is applying to become a fighter pilot when he is one of the smartest people I know. I got some name calling and face punching to do. Now do you see my point about friendship blinding you.

But why do you think he is stupid though?
I would look up to that person for giving up opportunities like that for protecting their own country.

You would look up to someone who threw away there life to get shot at? Honestly I dont know if I could ever talk to them again. Like for instance Pat Tillman, hero to be honest and incredibly brave but I dont look up to him just cause he gave up football for the military at least not anymore than any person who is willing to die for their country. I dont think he gave up any more than your average person who joins the military. Except for the fact that I view Tillman as an idiot for giving up his life for some stupid-ass war.
I am not saying I dont respect them and honor them or whatever but honestly they're stupid for giving up the opportunity.
