Yes in my opinion doing something like an engineer or a doctor or hell even a lawyer if you are fully capable of it is more important that dying for basically oil rights. And I consider people who do not take advantage of their intelligence to be incredibly stupid and short-sighted cause I know for a fact that they will look back on their sad life thinking "if only..."

any war to be honest if one of my friends gave up being something like a lawyer or a engineer for being shot at I would call them a meathead and punch them in the face. Wow I actually just realized that my best friend is going to do this. He is applying to become a fighter pilot when he is one of the smartest people I know. You would look up to someone who threw away there life to get shot at? Honestly I dont know if I could ever talk to them again. Like for instance Pat Tillman, hero to be honest and incredibly brave but I dont look up to him just cause he gave up football for the military at least not anymore than any person who is willing to die for their country. I dont think he gave up any more than your average person who joins the military. Except for the fact that I view Tillman as an idiot for giving up his life for some stupid-ass war.

I am not saying I dont respect them and honor them or whatever but honestly they're stupid for giving up the opportunity.
