Well, just got back from the theatre. Personally, I enjoyed it except for one glaring flaw in the story. Other were not so happy with it, although they knew what it was going to be like walking in. And as for the ending...well, all I have to say is that there really was no other way to end it.

So....the movie was over-hyped and a waste of money like I thought it would be?
The thing is a giant rat isn't it?

I hate action/thriller/all that stuff-type of movies, but Cloverfield has always intrigued me, ever since the Abrams name was attached to such an innovative idea. I walked into the theatre having already seen the monster, and figured it might've been ruined for me.
It certainly wasn't. The problem people have is that it's really not a "movie". I think it's more suited for people like myself, who are really interested by the video taken on 9/11, and stuff like that. Brilliant job, really haven't left a regular theatre feeling that way in a while.

Its a love it or leave kind of movie, and you have to go in with a good understanding of what the direction of the movie was. I really enjoyed it. Somewhere between Signs, War of the Worlds, and Blair Witch is this love-child of a movie. Its fantastic, and better than all the ones I just named.

Ya you dont get a clear foot to head shot, but they show enough of it for you to get a picture of what it all looks like. I meant that with each shot, it tends to look like something different. Yes, you get a clear look at its "face", but that's about it. And I agree with the notion that the camera work gave the movie an entirely different feel. I just think that the whole love story angle took away from a really good movie.

SPOILER (Highlight to reveal): Without the love story, they are just a bunch of people following the evacuation procedures, nothing would've happened. They needed SOME reason to roam the city, and the thus the love story granted them reason to defy the military evacuation. For reference, if anyone ever wants to use a spoiler tag, it's 646464 (light) or 353535 (dark)

Did anyone notice at the end when they went to Rob and Beth and she says "I had a great day," when he put the camera away from his face and pointed it toward the ocean, a UFO crashed into the water?

I do not remember this at all, but if it was true, it would contradict everything the viral scheme has pointed to.

But I never really got in to the viral marketing, what are some websites?

If you want to check out the viral marketing, head over to Wikipedia, there's a whole page dedicated to it.

Alot of people are bitching about the ending but honestly, how the hell else could it have ended? With some illogical and impossible bullshit? Granted, I understand that the concept of a giant monster attacking NYC isn't logical either, but if it had ended happily, i'd have been pissed.

Question for those who've seen it.
Did Lily survive? Maybe I missed it, but the last time I saw her was when she got on the helicopter.

Keeper, how do you feel about the "love" story? Don't you think it would've been better if it was just about their survival?
