I got a game tonight... that is all. to quote my quote and I will... lost 10-8 against the best team in the league. I got 2 goals and 5 assists and 2 pims I was asked to fight (again) and yet refused because well fighting in adult league hockey is on the level of picking-up a midget and shaking him. Its not needed, but it seems everyone wants to anyways. Great way to put the fighting. Adult league hockey can be great fun but can also piss you off a lot. At least that is how I've experienced it. I've had some great competition and some guys who are just huge tools playing.

We finished our hockey regular season at 15-1-3 and locked up the #1 seed in the state tournament. I'm playing a little more with most of my ice time coming on PK. Again, I'm a sophomore playing on the two time defending state champion so I kind of ride bench.
19 games played 1 goal 3 assists -1 plus minus

Alright, here we go.
Yesterday was our big state meet, and it was going to be one unlike any other. As the five-time defending state champions, we'd always won by blowouts, but that was not going to be the case this time around. We'd dropped a few meets during the regular season, and were only ahead by 30 on paper, knowing that the top challenger didn't have seed times that accurately reflected their talent.
It started off poorly for us right from the start, with our contender MMU swapping places with us in the 4x8, switching between 1st and 3rd, a fairly severe dent in our points lead. We failed to score in the 55 dash, and then snuck a sixth place finisher in the 55H. They were dominating high jump and long jump, so things weren't looking that great for us. However, we got our first boost of the day when my 4x2 team won the state title there, comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.
The 600 was the first pressure event of the day. I was the 7th seed (though in the last scoring position), and the last runner in the heat was an MMU runner. We also had the 1st seed. The race took off fast, and was an absolute mess, with people getting pushed and shoved from the start. I wound up finishing in 6th, and MMU grabbed 5th and 7th. While it was a point serge for them, our performance ended up negating their advantage. Then in the 300, they had to scratch their best sprinter, so we took 14 unanswered points.
That put us into the final event, the 4x4 relay. Our team was myself, and three seniors. But because I'd had the lightest load on the day, I volunteered to take the anchor spot -- after all, we had pretty much guarenteed the title at this point.
Turns out that was far from true. A small school who has one incredible runner, ended up petitioning to have varsity status, and thus have their runners score. With that chipping away at our points total, we needed to finish no lower than 3rd to win the title.
We weren't doing great in the relay, behind throughout, though our third runner closed the gap so that i was within 10 meters when I got the baton. I honestly have never been more nervous in my life; all these seniors were my best friends, I was going to hate myself if I lost it for them. All I could think about was my hamstring going on the backstretch, or something terrible like that.
But for some reason, when I got the baton, it all went away, and I immediately decided I was going to pass him. I came out of nowhere to get by him out of the first turn (200m track), and then tried to hold him up. I knew I was going way too fast for myself, but I didn't want to give it up. I strided out across the backstretch the other type, and off the final turn we were side by side, all the way to the finish, where they edged it out by .07, but we had secured the state title by 4 points. I ended up running a 53.2, 2.1 seconds better than my previous PR.
If I could show someone one race to sell them on indoor track, I'd wish they could've seen that 4x400. The reaction when my team on the 4th corner saw that I had passed the guy is possibly one of the most incredible things I've seen.

That amazing Keeper, nice job. And thats great you beat your PR in the State meet. Track is a sport I pay little to no attention to, and my school won the girl's Cross Country Championship for three straight years and was top-5 in the nation. But thats not a sport you can be a spectator to. Great story.....

6 inches? No biggie. Apparently, in North Carolina, they got two inches. Public schools were closed for a day, and the next day they had a delay.

Last... Wednesday, we got a foot and a half or so, most areas unplowed, and still had school, even though are administration was telling some kids "yeah, you probably should head home".
But this thread is about how good we are at sports, not how good looking I am.

States are coming up on March 1st for our team.
I have the 4x400 and anchor leg of the 4x800. They will be my final two races before I stop running because of tris.
