Don't you just love these people? I heard a radio interview with one lady (wrong word to use) who is a part of this church. It was one of the craziest speeches I have ever heard. Hate is alive and well in America.

the problem with alot of these people is that they take the bible word for word as a literal translation of what you should and shouldn't do. The bible was written like what, 100 years after Christ? Obviously his deeds, if true of course, were noble but probably extremely embellished

Obviously his deeds, if true of course, were noble but probably extremely embellished The problem with this is that while from common sense, most can say to not take it as a literal transition, but the bible doesn't start off with a disclaimer stating that you shouldn't. Westboro is successful because they can get the Bible to support their stances, and they know the bible better than anyone else. I don't know if people have ever seen them talk about the Bible with someone of a different belief, I'm sure there are videos online, but they tear people apart.

yes they know the bible, but I think they miss a large portion of it ... mainly the new testament. They seem to focus on the wrath and things that God hated rather than the Son who came. The entire core theme of Jesus was love ... love the sinner hate the sin, etc. The man is the reason that the bible should not be taken literally, because he was one who spoke in parables ... which are not literal by definition.
The epitome of love came with the sacrifice. "God hates fags" isn't swaying anyone in the direction of Jesus Christ but rather away, which is exactly NOT what to do. In Matthew 28, the Great Commission was given to go into the world proclaiming the gospel, baptizing, etc. Their church hasn't grown past a little over 100 people since they have started.
In the end, I think these people have simply missed it. They chose to focus on the hate, and I'm willing to bet because somewhere along the line the father was molested by another man or something similar happened. He took his own hate for homosexuality and scrounged up a couple of Bible verses to back him up and ran with it.
Ultimately we are responsible for the words we speak and the people we are in authority over. I believe his time will come ... he will have blood on his hands. He may love God will all his heart, I can't say either way on that, but he doesn't love God's people which is just as important. "God hates
