Best Picture: No Country For Old Men (but I was really tempted to pick Michael Clayton) Best Actor: Viggo Mortenson (loved Eastern Promises too much to pass up but I doubt he wins) Best Actress: Marion Cotillard (La Mome is the same as La Vie En Rose, correct?) Best Supporting Actor: Phillip Seymour Hoffman (no doubt) Best Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett (kinda felt bad not picking her in Elizabeth) Best Director: Coen Bros (couldn't go any other way) Best Animated: Ratatouille (nowhere near my favorite animated but no way I pick Freddy Prinze Jr.) Best Documentary: Sicko (as much controversy as Moore brings up, i think everyone has to agree that this was very well done)
I didn't see Juno, but was it really that amazing? Looking at the previews it look so so-so to me. I'm sure the girl does a terrific job, but I mean come on, nominated for Best Picture? Also, as much as I liked Michael Clayton I think that's the big one nominated for a bunch that doesn't pick up a single win.

im sad that all the critics hated the darjeeling limited but I thought it was one of Anderson's best films. Right behind Rushmore and infront of The Royal Tenebaums.

So I saw 'No Country For Old Men' again. I still think Philip Seymour Hoffman should win Best Supporting Actor. It is not a knock on Badem at all. Hoffman just gave that good of a performance.

Each year my family has an Oscar pool, and we enter into the Freep's contest. Last year, my dad won the DVD Amistad for placing fourth in the newspaper. I've won the pool the last two years:
Best Picture - No Country For Old Men Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis Best Actress - Marion Cotillard Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem Best Supporting Actress - Cate Blanchett Best Director - Coen Brothers (Should have been the snubbed Sidney Lumet) Best Originial Screenplay - Juno Best Adapted Screenplay - Atonement Best Foreign Language Film - The Counterfeiters (Only one I have heard anything about) Best Animated Film - Ratatouille Best Art Direction - Sweeney Todd Best Cinematography - There Will Be Blood Best Costume Design - La Vie En Rose Best Documentary Feature - Sicko Best Documentary Short - Salim Baba Best Film Editing - No Country For Old Men Best Makeup - La Vie En Rose Best Original Song - "Falling Slowly (Once) Best Original Score - James Newton Haward (Michael Clayton) Best Animated Short - My Love (Moya Lyubov) Best Live Action Short - The Substitute Best Sound Editing - There Will Be Blood Best Sound Mixing - 3:10 to Yuma Best Visual Effects - Pirates of the Caribbean

I mean, Bardem gives a damn good performance. I just think the actual character being more badass influences the contest. If you simply base it on the work done by each actor, you can see Hoffman gets a slight edge.
