Ok this shit about protesting the Olympics because of China's policies and treatment of its people is becoming ridiculous. I see protests, arrest, etc. every single night on the news. These protesters will stop at nothing to extinguish the Olympic torch no matter where it goes. At this point, the worldwide torch relay needs to be stopped.
But Should we, as a country, boycott the Olympics? Hilary Clinton and, I believe, Obama have said we should but Bush has been mum. I'd feel bad for the athletes that have trained for the games because they are being pulled into a situation that is out of their control.
What do yall think?

The Olympics are supposed to be an event that puts political turmoil aside.

They have NOT called for the boycotting of the Olympics, but rather stated that the President should not attend the opening ceremony, a measure I think is entirely fair.
John McCain also said this today.

Boycotting the entire thing would be dumb, but I have no problem with protesting or Bush not attending the opening ceremony.

I am as pro-Tibet as anyone, and fully back the boycott of the opening ceremony... but if I ever qualified for the Olympics (not going to happen), I would never turn down the opportunity to compete. There is a difference between the games themselves, and the propaganda ceremonies like the opening.
