This will be used to follow my college football dynasty for draft classes and such for my Chargers site. I really like playing with KSU and there are some good story lines here. This is how i will work:
- Flash Quarterly - After every 4 games, I will review every game, team news, conference standings, Heisman race, and the Top 10 teams in the country. - Recruiting will be a large part of this dynasty. Including player profiles and updates during each update and the off-season - No pictures or in-depth writing, just merely so you can follow college football alongside my other franchise.

Flash Quarterly - S1V1 Kent State - 1-3 (0-1)
Game 1: Kent State...14....14....0....0....28 Iowa State...7.....7.....21...14...49 - Total Offense - KSU: 334 - ISU: 498 Bret Meyer dominates opening game of the season at home. Flashes take early lead, but came out of halftime sluggish and were shut out by Cyclone defense. Rushing attack shut down for 70 total yards, leading to low time of possession and scoring opportunities taken by Iowa State. POG: Bret Meyer QB - 17/28, 241 yards, 21 rushing yards, 4 Total TD
Game 2: Kent State (0-1)....14....0....0....7....21 Kentucky (1-0)......7.....0....21...7....35 - Total Offense - KSU: 285 - KY: 341 After a fourth quarter comeback win to start the year, Andre Woodson struggled throwing 4 interceptions. Edelman tried to match the play-making abilities of Woodson, but injured his wrist off hitting it off of a lineman's helmet and sat the entire second half. The story became the running game and defense, in which the Wildcats dominated on the back of Rafael Little. Two straight interceptions taken for touchdowns led to Kent State's late demise. POG: Jameson Konz LB - 10 tackles, 6 for loss, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble
Game 3: Delaware St. (0-0)...0....7....0....7....14 Kent State (0-2).....7...10....7...14....38 - Total Offense - DSU: 201 - KSU: 462 A stunning home opener for the Golden Flashes erased the memories of losing two straight to big conference opponents. Delaware State was able to continue Kent State's 3rd down woes (1/7), but Jarvis capitalized on an inexperienced defense, which opened the air for Julian Edelman to throw 304 yards and 3 touchdowns. POG: Eugene Jarvis RB - 18 car., 151 yards, 2 TD
Game 4: Kent State (1-2)...0....0....7....7....14 Akron (0-3)........14....7...3....0.....24 - Total Offense - KSU: 287 - AKR: 341 The Wagon Wheel returns to Akron on a stunning defensive performance. Kent State found themselves chasing all game long, but unable to create any momentum. The highly touted Quarterback match-up was taken by Jackson, who had over 300 all-purpose yards, and 3 total touchdowns. No run support again for the Flashes didn't help their shot at a comeback, that included kicker Reid Macko missing two field goals inside 35 yards. POG: Carlton Jackson - 19/32, 228 yards, 78 rushing yards, 3 Total TD

Fash Quarterly - S1V2 Kent State - 3-5 (2-2)
Game 5: Kent State (1-3)....0....14....3....3....20 Ohio (1-3)...........14.....7....7....7....35 - Total Offense - KSU: 317 - OHIO: 424 The two teams that found themselves with a identical record in the MAC East thus far in 2007, squared off in Athens, Ohio. Kent State was building off a tough loss that had given the Wagon Wheel back to Akron, and Kent State's offense would stall again, marking a second straight in-state, in-conference loss. Ohio's defense allowed only two field goals in the second half, to newly named starting kicker Nate Reed. POG: Brad Bower QB - 17/29, 260 yards, 2 TD
Game 6: Miami (OH) (3-2)....0....7....7....7....21 Kent State (1-4).....7....7....0...13....27 - Total Offense - MU: 348 - KSU: 345 Kent State found its first conference win against the bruising Redhawk defense. A tough game came down to a one touchdown deficit for the Flashes, turned into two straight scoring drives to win. Miami found themselves down early and chasing throughout the whole game. Chasing mostly the 5'5 frame of Sophomore Eugene Jarvis, who had his best game of the year against a hard fought effort by Miami. A missed extra point by KSU's Nate Reed gave Miami hope, but there wasn't enough time, and Miami came up short. POG: Eugene Jarvis RB - 17 car., 129 yards, 2 TD
Game 7: Kent State (2-4)..........7....7....0....20....34 #16 Ohio State (5-1)...13...17...7...10....47 - Total Offense - KSU: 390 - OSU: 421 Ohio State found itself on "spoiler alert" when it returned home in early October against in-state opponent Kent State. A 30-14 halftime lead meant trouble for Kent, but the Flashes allowed another touchdown and followed it with a quick kickoff return for a touchdown by Sean Bayes, to start the 4th quarter. The score ignited the Kent State offense, but even a 20 point fourth wasn't enough to catch the threatened, but not defeated Buckeyes. POG: Jamario O'Neal FS - 9 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 FF, TD
Game 8: Bowling Green (2-4)...7....0....0....0....7 Kent State (2-5)......14....7...7....7.....35 - Total Offense - BGSU: 303 - KSU: 471 After an impressive performance against big time, Big Ten opponent, Ohio State; Kent State answered with another solid game. Led by its high-octane backfield, Kent State scored two quick passing touchdowns. The defense took over following a touchdown by the Eagles, who found a way to stop Sean Bayes, but couldn't stop Tom Sitko or Darren Rogers. Kirk Belgrave added to his team-leading interception total with two more, and Belgrave also held Bowing Green to under 250 passing yards, a team best. POG: Julian Edelman - 21/34, 267 yards, 29 rushing yards, 3 Total TD
Overview Team Rankings Total Offense - 357 yards - 69th Passing - 230 yards - 50th Rushing - 126 yards - 78th Total Defense - 374 yards - 81st Passing - 237 yards - 87th Rushing - 137 yards - 68th

Fash Quarterly - S1V3 Kent State - 5-7 (4-4)
Game 9: C. Michigan (5-3).....7....21....0....14....42 Kent State (3-5)......7....10....0.....6.....23 - Total Offense - CMU: 418 - KSU: 353 The Chippewas were too much to handle for a struggling Kent State defense, as CMU scored early and often. Riding off the success of Sophomore phenom Dan LeFevour, who posted 226 yards and 4 touchdowns led his team to their third straight victory. Eugene Jarvis was electric for 133 yards, but was held out of the end zone. The Flash special teams unit surprised the home fans with over 250 return yards between Bayes and Jarvis, but couldn't convert yardage into points offensively. The line backing core for Kent State did step up for 23 solo tackles, but were unable to stop the power of the Chips offense. POG: Dan LeFevour QB - 17/27, 226 yards, 4 TD
Game 10: Kent State (3-6).....7....7.....14...14....42 No. Illinois (6-3)......0...14.....7....14....35 - Total Offense - KSU: 444 - NIU: 456 A nail-biting finsh in DeKalb gave Kent State an upset win over the surging home Huskies. A tied game at half time, the sparks started fling after the opening kick off by Sean Bayes. Then a passing war between Edelman and Nicholson broke out as the next three touchdowns scored came through the air. But it was the play of Eugene Jarvis that would decide the back-and-fourth contest. With less than a minute in the game, Jarvis scored the game-winning touchdown to send the home crowd into silence. POG: Eugene Jarvis RB - 20 car., 134 yards, 3 rec., 105 yards, 5 total TD
Game 11: Kent State (4-6).....7....0.....0.....17....24 Temple (4-6).........7...10.....3.....7.....27 - Total Offense - KSU: 423 - TEMP: 403 Following close wins for both teams followed them into Lincoln Financial Field in a fantastic finish. What could be known as "too little, too late" for Kent State, can be better put for Temple as a lead "out-of-reach." Slows starts from both teams gave the Temple team an edge, five turnovers for Kent State, three in the first half, also didn't help their cause. Julian Edelman, who hadn't thrown an interception in two games, threw four against a tough defense. Eugene Jarvis picked up the slack and scored two straight touchdowns in the 4th quarter, but the team still found themsleves a field goal down, without enough time left on the clock. POG: Vaughn Charlton QB - 13/18, 273 yards, 1 TD
Game 12: Buffalo (2-9).........0....7.....3....0....10 Kent State (4-7)...14...0......0...7....21 - Total Offense - BUF: 222 - KSU: 235 Senior Day in Kent, Ohio didn't involve much offense as Kent State closed the 2007 season. 13 seniors, including 8 starters, took their final snaps as Golden Flashes. A defensive battle came down to who made the least mistakes, and Buffalo with 9 penalties and 2 turnovers were unable to gain momentum on the road in Dix. Eugene Jarvis started the scoring with a 64 yard punt return touchdown, that was followed wih a Stevon Moss interception that set up a Jon Drager touchdown, that put the game out of Buffalo reach. POG: Jon Drager RB - 9 car., 54 yards, 1 TD
Overview Team Rankings Total Offense - 359 yards - 69th Passing - 219 yards - 69th Rushing - 139 yards - 60th Total Defense - 374 yards - 73rd Passing - 234 yards - 78th Rushing - 140 yards - 68th

Breaking News - Former Illinois' Assistant Head Coach Reggie Mitchell was named the new Head Coachof the Kent State University football program. At only 42 years old, he becomes the youngest African-American coach to take over at the collegiate level. Mitchell was once the running backs coach at Kent State under Glenn Mason in 1984. He was part of Glen Mason's staff for 11 seasons, at Kansas, Kent State, and finally for two seasons at Minnesota. He then went on to coach under Michigan State Head Coach Bobby Williams and helped tutor first round selections T.J. Duckett, Plaxico Burress, and Charles Rogers. New Kent State Athletic Director Ben Johnson was excited about the new, historic hiring. Mitchell announced at his press conference the hiring of Sylvester Croom, who was fired as Head Coach at Mississippi State and brings years of experience, in as the team's Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. The rest of the staff will be lined up within the next week, but analysts expect a Woody McCorvey to follow Sly Croom to KSU. The move was greeted with excitment as it shows the university has finally put thought and money behind its football program.

Golden Flash News Wire The rest of the Kent State staff was announced today by Head Coach Reggie Mitchell and Athletic Director Ben Johnson. People who have worked with both Coach Mitchell and Croom were named to the staff including Woody McCorvey, who will work with the team's Quarterbacks and Running Backs. Before working for Croom, Woody worked at Tennessee and helped to coach Travis Stephens and Jamal Lewis into NFL talent.
A close coaching friend to Croom's was brought in, to help the receiving core, Henry Mason. Coach Mason has coached at Wisconsin for a decade, and was happy to join the staff to help teach his players, like he did at Wisconsin with players like Chris Chambers and Lee Evans.
The entire coaching staff was let go in favor of a new staff, hand picked by Croom and Mitchell. Coach Mitchell brought in a former co-worker in Curt Mallory, the former Illinois Secondary coach, to be the team's Defensive Coordinator. He brought in Mike Yeager to coach the secondary, who had coached under Terry Hoeppner in Indiana, and went to Wooster College with Mallory. The University named David Turner the team's Defensive Line Coach, after three years at Mississippi State under Coach Croom.
Rounding out the staff is a coach Mitchell referred to as his "right hand man and best friend," George Ricumstrict. George was the Special Teams coach at Indiana, before accepting the job, and had worked alongside Mike Yeager in the past. Coach Ricumstrict graduated in the same class as Reggie Mitchell at Central Michigan, where they both held a degree in sports managment. The staff is predomiately African-American, and is made of highly respected coaches from numerous backgrounds that all are familiar with eachother and are looking to bring a winning tradition to Kent, Ohio.

My notes for games haven't been as good, so don't expect any more stories. This is really just to have a parallel dynasty for my Chargers site, so it will have to do, due to my time constraints....

Flashes Make First Bowl Since '72 The Kent State football team didn't expect much success in 2008. A new Head Coach, new offense, and inexperienced team were a formula that don't put most teams in a bowl game. But after winning three straight games to end the season, the Golden Flashes found themselves in the Liberty Bowl against the C-USA Champion, Central Florida.
A tough loss put a disappointing end to a year, that was far from 'disappointing.' With the emergence of Eugene Jarvis as a play-maker, the offense caught stride after an overtime loss to Bowling Green. After beating in-state rivals Akron, Kent State was in line for something they hadn't done in 35 years. Head Coach Reggie Mitchell sees a "bright future ahead," with this being "only the beginning." The team does however lose 11 starters including Quarterback Julian Edelman, 3 offensive lineman, and the team's entire starting linebacking core.
With the team's surprise success came opportunities for the coaching staff to move on to other job openings. Eric Wolford went back to his alma-mater, Kansas State, and takes over the Offensive Line. With him, Woody McCorvey returned to Tennessee to help the runningbacks under Phil Fullmer, following the resignation of close friend and Offensive Coordinator, Sylvester Croom.
These openings were filled quickly: Graduate Assistant Matt Horton was promoted to Offensive Line Coach and Mike Locksley was named Offensive Coordinator. Horton came to Kent State two seasons ago from Northern Alabama, where he was a four-year letterman at NAU. Locksley comes to K-State from Illinois, where he worked with Coach Mitchell as the Offensive Coordinator. He originally planned on following Mitchell to Kent, but stayed loyal with his contract.
