"The Court of Florida finds Jayson David Blitz not guilty of manslaughter. Mr. Blitz will be discharged from all accusations, and will be allowed to return to the University of Miami for his final semester."
"Best of luck to you, Mr. Blitz. Just don't mess up." ======================================
"As I look at the faces in the crowd today, one young man has really touched my heart. Jayson David Blitz was accquitted on manslaughter charges last year to another athlete at Florida State University. When found not guilty, he was allowed to return to this campus to graduate with us. As a great friend, I am honored to be able to present him with his diploma. Ladies and gentlemen, Jayson David Blitz, number 11 on the football field, and number one in our hearts."
I walked up to the stage and got my diploma. I smiled a dead smile. What is there to life, now, that I spent six months in a high-security cell, working out, studying, doing schoolwork online in the hope I would graduate, and playing jail-yard football. Keeping in shape was my main concern.
My normal pretty-boy demeanor was changed. My brown wavy hair turned into long, beaded cornrows. My unmarked arms turned into tattooed cannons. Never mind that I was so depressed to the point of dying, I was trying to stay in shape for the combine. I watched Michael Vick on TV every Sunday. I demanded it. I ran that jail. My tan body had turned into a machine. I was built like a Special Forces ranger. Brady Quinn has nothing on me. So when I got out, you know what my first thought was?
Getting my name cleared. I bought a suit. Visited my parents. Visited the grave of the man I killed. But I didn't kill him. It's hard, you know. Being black in a suburban area. Being a black quarterback who led Miami to an unbeaten season... Being me has been hard my whole life.
I had a grandfather, JJ Blitz, who played alongside OJ Simpson on the 49ers. Simpson was garbage. My pap, though, was raw, son. So like, you got a famous grandpa, and your pops wasn't too bad at football, and you got this pedigree to uphold. Yeah I bucked. But at the same time, I'd never kill that man. It was time to do stuff right.
But first, I needed to get drafted. With a pool of quarterbacks that included Brady Quinn, JaMarcus Russel, Trent Edwards, and Kevin Kolb, I ain't settin' the bar too high. But this is my legacy, and ya'll gon' be a part of it. I'm JD Blitz, baby.

So I walked up to the house where I grew up, my home. After reconciling with my parents the week before, I was pretty confident that they would support me in my choice.
"Ay mom, dad, I gotta talk to ya'll about something. I'm not going to be entering grad school. Rather, I'm enterin' the NFL Draft."
"JD, you ain't gonna get drafted, son! You got that smudge on your reputation! Ain't noone gonna pick a black quarterback who had legal problems, least of all from Miami, neither! Miami QBs never pan out, son, you know that."
"Man dad, I thought this choice was gonna make you happy, man. I'm doin' it. And I don't care what ya'll think. When I'm makin' it big, don't come crawlin' back to me, 'cause ya'll bout to be out my life. Ya bailed on me when Bryan died. I didn't do that to Bryan. He was my boy. And now when JD Blitz comes home everything is cool, but you don't want him to do what he wants to do? **** you, dad."
I left. But just before I shut the door, I opened it again, looked right at my dad, and said "Vinny Testaverde. Bernie Kosar. JD Blitz."
I just proved him wrong. I named the three quarterbacks from the U that did succeed in the NFL. And I will succeed.

"And now for the 40 yard dash, JD Blitz, Quarterback, Miami U."
I got into my sprinters stance. A lot of people don't remember, but I was a beasty track runner at my high school. So the gun went off, and so did I. I was churning out pure heat. I finished, and didn't really break a sweat. Second time, same thing. Third time, I was straight, but tired.
"I... don't think this is right. You're a quarterback, right?"
"Yeah, man. I ran a 4.5 in the college workouts, so am I slower?"
"Son... You ran a 4.34."
I smirked, and walked away.

I worked out for the Chicago Bears today, doing some basic work with the recievers and runningbacks, conducting a few two-minute drills. I was impressed with the way the organization conducted itself, it was by far the longest workout I had, as they invited me to Soldier Field to work out with the quarterbacks. Lovie Smith kept looking at Chris (Leak) and I.
So I left Chicago, and the next morning arrived in Indianapolis. My agent, Demetrius Skubick, told me I was going there for something but would not tell me what.
So I got there, and to my suprise, I did not work out with the Colts. I thought I would, because hey, Peyton is getting old, and I would be a great candidate to be the next in line, sort of an Aaron Rodgers.
But instead, I worked out in a public session throwing, scrambling, and bench pressing. I benched the required weight 14 times, but I was sleepy from the ride to Indy, so I could have done more. But I was being watched by Tony Dungy, Jon Gruden, Romeo Crennel, and Lovie Smith. Smith kept on laughing as he saw what I was doing -- amazing defenses and hitting recievers in stride. For everyone that said JD Blitz can't do this or that, look at me now.

"Blitz drops back, the linebackers start the blitz. Pump fake to Dwayne Bowe, and Blitz hits Robert Meachem in stride! Meachem goes all the way!"
I snapped off my helmet and ran to the sideline. It was the College All-Star game, and I was the second string quarterback behind Brady Quinn, who threw 1 pick in 6 attempts passing. I, on the other hand, have conducted myself maturely in the pocket, and had went 18-29 with 3 touchdown passes. JaMarcus Russel was still beating us, though, 45-38.
So the next play, I went in and dropped back and was sacked. I shrugged it off, and then dropped back to pass and dumped it to Adrian Petersen, who ran 36 yards until he was shoved out of bounds. Then it was time. 3 seconds to go. This was the culmination of my college career, right here. If I didn't win this game for us, I would never get drafted.
I dropped back to pass. Juked two defenders. Stepped up in the pocket, and...
no one was open.
What do I do? What do I do??
"JD listen to me, you've been in this type of situation before. You play your brand of football."
Coach Lloyd Carr was giving me an earful. I smirked a bit, and then started rolling out to my right, pump faking two defenders. One fell to the ground.
It was time.
I jumped over him, and started bolting to the endzone.
"JD BLITZ TAKES OFF! HE'S OFF TO THE RACES!!!!!"
Touchdown. I hit the extra point. I walked off the field to a mob of reporters. You know what I just felt like doing? Calling my dad.

I talked to my dad. He was pleased things were looking up for me. Teams were calling left and right to interview me. I got calls from the Packers and Bills most prominently, but also the Jaguars and Dolphins. I went to all the interviews, got interviewed most prominently on the manslaughter charges.
The wierdest thing ever, though, was that the New England Patriots were taking a profound interest in me as a wide reciever. Like I was a big factor to them in some sense. I knew then, though, that the Patriots were the best option. Let's face it. No one wants a quarterback that can run a 4.3 and throw. They want a guy who can run. Especially in a league where everyone is pretty much set at QB.
I have resigned my fate to being a utility player, like Randle-El. But I was born to be a quarterback. Why doesn't anyone see that?

"...With the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select JaMarcus Russel, quarterback, University of Louisiana."
Cheers reigned from the sky. I was at home, with a bunch of my family. We had two HD TV's set up, and every phone in the house was around us. But day one ended. I didn't get the call.
Day Two began. Round 4 was under way. It was about 2:13 in the afternoon and I was eating some submarine sandwich from Subway, when my phone began to ring. Now, mind you, we have a 15 room house with a phone in each one, just not the restrooms, of course. Also, my father runs a business from home so there are 3 dedicated lines to him, and my mother runs her Mary Kay market in the basement, so there are many dedicated lines to her as well, all with different numbers. The ringing was faint at first. But then my father opened the kitchen door, and I bolted up the stairs.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Jayson. I'm Tom Coughlin, from the New York Giants. How'd you like to play for us, son?"
My response was only half-hearted. Sure, the Giants would be contenders with me, Eli, Plaxico, Jeremy, and Brandon on offense, but I wouldn't get to play quarterback.
"Haha yes! Thank you coach!"
"Allright son, get your ass up to New York so we can get you on the field."
My life changed forever that day. A New York Giant. And ready to take over.

So there I was, in New York city. The Big Apple. A press conference was being called to introduce the rookies. We filed in, and we were all dressed quite nicely. I filed in with Steve Smith, another rookie reciever. I had a lot to think about on the plane ride up here, and here's what I was thinking:
Allright, I want to play quarterback, but that won't happen. It's not that I am jealous of Eli, it's just that I know I can do better than him. But the organization wants to move me to reciever, where I am competent. In high school, I was the QB/RB/WR combo that many people wish they were, although I predominantley took snaps as the QB. I caught 35 passes for 421 yards and 8 touchdowns in my career, so it's not like I don't know how to catch. A lot of people don't even get the chance to play in the NFL, but I am, so I might as well make the most of it. If I get an offer from a team when I become a free agent to play QB, then so be it. But for now, JD Blitz is going to be a reciever.
I signed my contract the day before. 3 year, 7 million dollar deal, with 2 mill guarenteed. So I started looking at a modest penthouse, but I made a big purchase an hour after I signed the contract, a 2007 Ford Mustang Cobra. Nice ride to add to my collection I will amass later in life.
So Tom Coughlin was up on stage with us, and we were all standing side by side.
"Allow me to introduce the future of the Giants.
Number 88, Michael Matthews. Number 93, Jay Alford. Number 43, Michael Johnson. Number 30, Craig Dahl. Number 51, Zak DeOssie. Number 61, Adam Koets. Number 89, Kevin Boss. Number 44, Ahmad Bradshaw. Number 31, Aaron Ross. Number 12, Steve Smith. Number 11, Jayson Blitz."
People cheered as we recieved our jerseys. Number 11. It's a number I've worn since high school. I wore it as a sophmore when I threw my first touchdown pass to a backup freshman, DaJuan Royal. He's playing at North Carolina State right now. But after I threw that pass, it all became history. To think, I backed up Bruce Hall, a backup at Wake Forest. But now, I'm doing this.
Number 11 got me exposure in college. Number 11 also is what got me in trouble. They sell college jerseys at the gift shop, and number 11 was not being used when I was being recruited. But everyone bought it because they knew I'd be the QB. So some ***** bought my jersey and killed that guy. And everyone thinks I'd be retarded enough to wear my jersey when I kill someone. Damn.
Anyway. I got my jersey, 11. My practice jersey is number 4, so a lot of people have the false misconception I wear that. But I don't.
Anyway. So I signed a few autographs. Looked up. And there he was. Gerry.

Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 Cowboys Run All Over The Giants, 34-21
The NFL season started out sour for the New York Giants, who had optimism of a dominating season. But after today, you could say that the only thing that the Giants have to look foward to is the youth.
On the first play of the day, Amani Toomer was tackled by Roy Williams, injuring Toomer for the year, as he broke his leg. Rookie Jayson-David Blitz came out and caught 8 passes for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Plaxico Burress had 7 receptions for 98 yards and no touchdowns. The Giants' passing game was effective against the usually stout defense of the Cowboys, who are in the first season under new head coach Wade Phillips. The Giants passed for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns.
"We came out throwing today, but it wasn't enough. I tried to make everything work, but when the ground game gets 56 yards the whole game and your stud running back goes down, you'll have difficulty," said Eli Manning, who went 26-45 with 342 yards passing, 2 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, and a rushing touchdown. "It was embarassing how we just let them run all over us."
Julius Jones carried 32 times for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns, plowing the way for Tony Romo to throw 2 touchdowns against no interceptions. Romo, who is in his second season as a starter for the Cowboys, was effective against the weak defensive effort of the Giants, who were without defensive end Michael Strahan, who will be out until week 2 with a torn bicep muscle he suffered in the preseason. The Giants, who are usually in the playoff mix, did not look like a playoff team by any means today, which brings up the question, "When will Eli Manning finally mature as a quarterback?"
Only time will tell. Manning, drafted number 1 overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 2004 NFL Draft and dealt to the Giants for Phillip Rivers, has not shown the abilities his father, Archie, and brother, Peyton, possess. "If we thought Eli was not going to be a good player for us, we never would have gotten him. I am confident that this was just a weak game by him, as everyone experiences from time to time. We got to preview our youth, in Jayson Blitz, today, and the future looks good right now. But we have to look at the bigger situation of the defensive front seven. We need to either get better quick, or we will be in trouble all season. But I am impressed with the recievers, it's just too bad Brandon (Jacobs) went down today."
That was the dialouge head coach Tom Coughlin spoke in a press conference after the game. Jacobs went down with a knee injury and won't be back until week 3. This adversely effects the running game, which will rely chiefly on the legs of Rheuben Droughs, who came to the Giants from Cleveland for Tim Carter in the offseason.
JD Blitz, or Jayson-David Blitz, as he now goes by, was a quarterback at Miami and led them to an undefeated season, a 40-4 record, and four consecutive bowl wins. But as a running quarterback who runs a 4.37, Blitz was viewed as a running back, but as Coughlin noticed in his high school film that he was a competent reciever, switched him to the position this offseason, and figures to play him prominently in the offensive scheme. Blitz, who was involved in a manslaughter charge and was (unfairly) released by a federal judge, continues to play today. It is quite unfortunate that athletes have no consequences for their actions, and it is unfortunate that America's youth will see this man as a great football player. Until then, we can only hope that Amani Toomer comes back quickly and buries him in the depth chart once again.
Next up for the Giants is Green Bay, who sports a 1-0 record behind Brett Favre's 5 touchdown, 465 yard performance in this week's action. No need to fear, Giants fans -- there have been rampant rumors that the Giants are trying to acquire Zach Thomas from the Miami Dolphins to improve their weak defense. If Thomas indeed comes to the Dolphins, we will be looking at a deep linebacking corps -- it is also rumored the Giants are looking at a high-profile free agent linebacker after the failed LaVarr Arrington experiment.

I read the paper. Yeah, it did a good job reppin' my stats. Represent. Man, Amani getting injured was the best thing for me. But man, do we suck. The paper didn't accurately reflect on what went on. They weren't in the huddle.
Plaxico was getting pissed. He wasn't gettin' the ball, and it was understandable as to why he got mad. Eli kept throwin' my way or to Steve (Smith). Plaxico is the proven reciever out there, and if he would have gotten the ball more, maybe we would have had a chance.
It was weird when I woke up today in the hotel and saw my roomie crying. Mathias Kiwianuka. Strongest guy I know, and he was crying. Something told me it wasn't about the game. Like he lost a friend or something. But I ain't gonna get involved in it yet, mainly because we have the next two days off.
Coach Coughlin was pissed yesterday, throwing everything every which way. He's a chill dude, but he's got a temper when he's pissed. We were just sitting there and he got in the recieving corps. faces. I didn't get mad, just bowed my head.
See, I ain't used to losing. I take it hard when I do, too. I won every big game in my career. I won the Sugar Bowl in 2004. Cotton Bowl in 2005. Rose Bowl in 2006. Tostito's Bowl in 2007. I've won every season opener since 7th grade. So to lose the season opener after going unbeaten in the preseason was a shocker to me. I mean, I knew the Boys were raw, but damn, man. I wish I coulda played QB, man. Eli's such a flop.

BREAKING NEWS OUT OF NEW YORK
The New York Giants have made a franchise-shaking trade, sending linebacker Anthony Mix, along with 3rd and 6th round draft picks for linebacker Derrick Johnson. This marks a big change to the defense, who was rumored to be switching to a 3-4 defense that was not seen in the first game. The linebackers will now be Dhani Jones (also picked up today in free agency), Mathias Kiwianuka, Antonio Pierce, and Johnson.
Amani Toomer has also been officially moved to the IR, making way for rookie overnight sensation Jayson-David Blitz to move to the second reciever.

Everyone, meet Gerrado "Gerry" Navarro.
He was the running back on my high school team. #34. Ran like Sanders, caught like Rice, and tackled like Taylor. Went to college for football, but left the team to become a lawyer at Harvard law school. Smartest guy I know.
"Hey there, JD." "Gerry whats up baby?" "Nothing, man. Listen, let's go talk."
I got up and offered to drive, but he was rollin' in a Cadillac limo.
"High rollin' now, buddy?"
"Well, yeah. Listen. You gotta hear this. We know who killed Bryan."
"Who?"
"Your brother."
Just then, I had a mild stroke, or so I thought. Really, it was just a shock. My brother died while I was in prison. I felt closure come to me.

Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 Packers Pack Up Giants, 16-7
The New York Giants are still struggling to find their rhythm, as they fell to Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers in miserable fashion, 16-7.
Neither team was quite spectacular today, as the Giants scored on a 43 yard pass from Eli Manning to Jayson-David Blitz with 15 seconds to go in the game. Brandon Jackson scored the only touchdown for the Packers, on a 3-yard touchdown run with 2:39 left in the first quarter, and kicker David Rayner did the rest.
The Giants were without Anthony Mix on defense, as he was part of the Derrick Johnson trade two days before this game. Johnson and Dhani Jones, a free agent pickup, were not in New York due to physicals.
Manning had a quarterback rating of 47.0, and was picked off 2 times. While he threw for 208 yards, it was the running game that was better, as Derrick Ward gained 40 yards on 9 attempts before being taken out of the game with a concussion. This has been the story for the Giants all year -- injury after injury. After Manning and Jacobs went down last game, the Giants have not been the same.
There is not much to write about for this game. After all, the Giants dug themselves into a hole this week. While Eli Manning ranks in the top ten passing yards in the league, he has not produced as Tom Coughlin predicted. "We will be sitting Eli just for next week for rest issues. His arm is sore from this week and from the injury the week before. Anthony Wright will be our starter next week, and for this reason, we will seriously re-evaluate our offense." said the coach.
Next up for the Giants? The 0-2 Redskins, which might be an easy win for the G-Men with Derrick Johnson and Dhani Jones finally joining the team.

It was straight bull.
There I was, sitting in the locker room after practice. Friday, two nights before our big game against the Redskins.
Now, everyone knows about the rivalry between our teams. It's big. I can't lie -- even as a Dolphins fan as a kid, I loved this little rivalry. But secretly, to the chagrin of my friends, I always wanted to play in it. So that was going to happen.
But Eli wasn't going to be throwing me the ball. I've trusted Eli the past five weeks. He's gotten me the ball, even when Amani and Plaxico and Brandon were on the field. If I was the third reciever, it was a guarentee I'd get 7 catches. But still... Anthony Wright.
Wright was a QB who I liked growing up. Kinda resembled him a bit... Only I didn't suck. Wright is gonna try and get the ball to Plaxico, the proven reciever. But I'm coming into my own. I never thought that through two weeks I'd have 15 catches for almost 200-something yards and 3-plus touchdowns. Not catching the ball, anyway. I thought I'd run for that if I got in trouble in the pocket.
I don't get why coach won't try me as a QB in this situation. Anyone but Anthony Wright, man...
