I saw on NBC Nightly news tonight that there was a discussion about the death penalty and how some think it is inhumane.
Of course I needed DC's opinion.
First off, I don't think "inhumane" should even be in the discussion. I mean seriously, was it humane for you to go out and kill someone? Was it humane for you to go and kidnap someone?
I mean come on.
DC, spill your thoughts.

The criminal should be given the option to sit in jail and rot for life or to take the death penalty.

There's my other thought. Sometimes, depending on the conditions and such, just being forced to sit in prison without any chance of parole seems like it would be worse.

Well, I was talking about the people that are killing others for the heck of it...I don't think they should be given a second chance.

Life in prison w/o parole is more punishment IMO.
I support cruel and unusual punishment for murderers.

yeah but it is also a tax burden. I believe in the whole you kill someone we will kill you back policy. Also I think the punishment should fit the crime. IE you burn someone to death you get burned to death. You rape, torture, and kill someone, Charles Manson get free reign on you.

If you decide to rape a rapist, who rapes the rapist?

I am against it. The death penalty is currently a huge joke. It isn't used well enough to actually make people fear it. Even in the future, I don't think it will be. Frankly, I don't think there is any way to make sure the punishment would be used correctly. Murder isn't solved by murder. If you take somebody's life, you don't deserve the easy exit of murder. The human conscience is much worse than poison in your veins.

It's put far too many innocent men to death, it has been incredibly racially biased in it's application, it is an entirely hypocritical policy... I could continue.

I mean, there are certain factors, it just pissed me off that the idea of "humane" was brought up.

I mean, there are certain factors, it just pissed me off that the idea of "humane" was brought up. They are dead on with saying it is inhumane. I'm under the impression that the definition of inhumane was lacking pity or compassion. The people "legally" murdering these criminals don't show them any pity. Thus, they are "legally" murdered in an inhumane fashion.

It all depends on the specific situation. That is one of the problems, how can we define 'extreme'? In my opinion, personal interpretation should not cause somebody to lose their life.

Death penalty can only be used in punishment for murder cases. "Extreme" is murder.
