Can Brett Favre just retire? Please? I beg of you. I don't want to see this whiny bitch who thinks he's entitled to whatever he wants anymore.
That said, the only reason he came was so the Madden Curse would only ruin this one season rather than the rest of his life.

I don't see why everyone is against favre all of a sudden, I'm not a favre fanboy or anything in fact I kinda think favre has been overrated these past few years. But who are the packers to decide whether any football player "legend" or not should do what they love. First they forced him into a decision before he was ready back in january now that all he wants is to come back and honestly make that team about 1000% better they won't let him.
Thats all fine and well they don't want him anymore, they feel comfortable turning it over to a former 1st round pick who in what 4 seasons has like 1 start. But who the hell are they to deny him his right to play football if he wants to. Its absolute bullshit giving any player a play with us or don't play ultimatum. If the pack doesn't want him release him and move on so that we can all move on too.

They won't let him? Just because their sick of him saying "This is the year i retire lol jk" every offseason?
They said they'd let him back, but honestly, he has to make him his mind above anything else. If he plays somewhere else this year, his career is tainted.

First they forced him into a decision before he was ready back in january First off, Favre retired at the beginning of March, not January. He had plenty of time to make up his mind, and nobody "forced" him to do anything. At that point he had to make a decision so Green Bay could figure out what to do in the future. now that all he wants is to come back and honestly make that team about 1000% better Wrong again, unless they consider 15-20 interceptions and increasing inconsistency making them 1000% better. All sides have confirmed that this is a mutual agreement. Favre doesn't want to play for the Packers anymore and the Packers want to move on as well. But who the hell are they to deny him his right to play football if he wants to. Its absolute bullshit giving any player a play with us or don't play ultimatum. If the pack doesn't want him release him and move on so that we can all move on too. Uh, when did Green Bay give such an ultimatum? They've been willing to trade him elsewhere since this whole saga began. Green Bay isn't trying to deny Favre the right to play, they want to understandably move on. I think it's good how Green Bay has handled it, and I think Favre feels like he had a sense of entitlement to get whatever he wants from Green Bay because he's Brett Favre. In short, please get your facts straight before you post stuff like this. Kthxbai.

DB, the Pack are better with Favre than Rodgers at this point because no one knows how he'll perform since it'll be his first year starting. Green Bay returns pretty much the same team that was one win away from the Superbowl and if Favre comes back, they'll be one of the favorites to win the conference. Favre will help em win now but I do feel sorry for Rodgers since he has to put up with this shit everyday.
And I hate how Green Bay has handled all of this. They must be scared of the Vikings and Bears because if Favre goes to one of them, the Pack will have serious competition for the division crown. Just cut Favre and move on. If he plays for a team within the division, oh well- that means your schedule might get a tad bit harder since Brett knows how the Packers operate and what plays they use.

Brett Favre seriously needs to grow up. He is a drama queen and that is ruining the sport. I always thought guys tried to avoid drama but now it seems to be so very prominent in one of the manliest things. Pretty much, Brett Favre fuels bullshit like ESPN and will continue the downfall of American sports from athletic competition to Sunday soap opera. Legend my ass.

Wrong again, unless they consider 15-20 interceptions and increasing inconsistency making them 1000% better. Because obviously a QB who has never started a game and has played only a half of meaningful action will make the offense better than it was when arguably one of the greatest QB of all-time was under center. GTFOH.

And yet despite not being what he used to be he had the 3rd highest rating of his career as well as the highest completion percentage in addition to having his lowest INT total since 2001 so I have no idea where your getting that.

well more breaking news on ESPN....
Brett is a Jet. Foxsports.com is reporting Favre will be traded there since the Jets offered more than Tampa.
I dont know what/who to believe in right now though. IF he is a Jet, that team will be ****ed.

db eer heard of exageration? It was 7 AM, give me a break I'm standing by my point. Most people in this thread are overrating Favre, and I don't think Green Bay would have been staggeringly better with or without him. And yes, he's a Jet.

He's a Jet. Not a Packer. Ugh.
As the resident Packer fan (and admitted bandwagoner in the regard) I think that both sides are at serious fault here. Favre came in, thought he would be pampered just because he's a hero and whatnot, not realizing that he lost the starting job when he quit the team. The Packer organization is at fault for being distant and not welcoming the man back onto the team.
Secondly, I hate Aaron Rodgers. I think he was a system QB in college and he's gonna fall flat on his face. But I'll take him over a Brett Favre that's at odds with ownership/management.
I'm past Brett Favre. Although I wish him the best of luck with the Jets. Shame he had to go and play for them. They're shite and so are their fans. Jets fans are the scum of the earth, and Giants fans are just above them.

Most people in this thread are overrating Favre, and I don't think Green Bay would have been staggeringly better with or without him. And yes, he's a Jet. I completely agree that he's overrated. Hell, he cost them a trip to the Super Bowl and no one said a word. He's a media darling and that's why no one talks about the fact that he's the NFL's all time interception leader. Secondly, you left out an important part of why he wasn't traded right off the bat. They were trying to figure a way to get him to stay retired so they wouldn't have to face a possible backlash from the fans for trading away the greatest star in franchise history. I don't blame the front office for not just trading him right off the bat.

Well, this move doesn't really do anything good for anybody in my opinion as far as results are concerned. I think Aaron Rodgers will do horrible and play just like another Cal quarterback I have watched the past few years (Kyle Boller) and Green Bay will miss the playoffs and now blame it all on the front office because they didn't let Favre back, a guy who led them to the NFC Championship. Keep in mind he also lost it for them by throwing a key interception at the end of the game, but Packers fans will still blame the front office for going with Rodgers and trading a team legend.
The Jets don't become an overnight superbowl contender either with Favre, I think this makes them a better team but not enough to beat out the Patriots for the division. Favre doesnt get a team to win him a superbowl, so this doesn't work out completely for him either.
What this does do is give Brett Favre alot of marketing opportunites by playing for New York, something I'm sure he wont complain about. That beats doing Wrangler commercials or whatever the hell he does. And for New York this is huge money wise, brings in alot more fans and obviously ticket sales and jersey sales should sky rocket while also making their team better.
