If we start Sheridan next week, it's really going to test me as a fan. Because its very obvious who the better of the two is. Send Sheridan to Barwis for a week and then it'll be clear who the better player is. If he keeps going this way, Barwis will feed him to the wolf.

I'm gonna say RichRod's gone in three years.. If Michigan is smart he won't be. You need at least 4 full recruiting seasons before you can judge a coach who's changing the entire offensive philosophy of a team.

Oh I agree with you on that but..I think he's gonna struggle to pull in recruits. One because they're losing and two because with his gameplan, it's like he's wiping away tradition (not literally but suddenly winning tradition doesn't matter with him as coach). See Tyrone Willingham for an example of how change can effect a program for a few years. I think there are more appealing schools that run the offense he's trying to instill with players who can't run it.

You know we have like 14-15 commits already and are a top 5 ranked class by, I think, Rivals? He's getting who he wants and we're only struggling with OL commits (1 so far) and DE (little depth, but we should get 1-2). We're going to get a ton of 4-5* bite-sized WR's/RB's/CB's/Slot types. We have an absolute shitload of LB/S incoming. It's only a matter of time before we get what we need along the OL. RichRod is already doing well on the recruiting trail and, unless the apocalypse occurs on the field, should only get stronger.

Oh and on the tradition thing, he is acknowledging the traditions. For example, when it was rumored he was giving the vaunted #1 jersey to freshman DB JT Floyd, Braylon Edwards (the most famous of #1's) got upset about it. Rich acknowledged he didn't know about it and corrected the situation. He's still learning the traditions and is doing a good job of not stepping on toes.

Utah got very lucky to say the least. I actually thought UM's defense looked pretty solid. Even though there were 25 points scored, how many were field goals with that beastly kicker? so it shows that UM didn't really let them penetrate deep into their territory.
If Sheridan was pulled earlier, I think UM wins this. I am also surprised he got the start.
As for MSU, I don't really know. The offensive line is very young and it showed a lot vs Cal. That blocked punt and those bad snaps were bad, so I think there will be a switch at LS very soon.
Another thing, penalties, penalties, penalties. Some very stupid ones, but still, nothing like the JLS days. MSU got jobbed on a couple of pass interference calls so Cal got lucky on some of those. One where the Cal receiver pushed off big time and one no call when the Cal DB had a hold of a jersey.
Despite the loss, they never quit which I give Dantonio credit for and it's something I like to see out of my team. Still haven't lost by more than 7 under him. Really, I'm not very upset about the loss. I was going to be if we played like we did in the first half for the whole game, but the second half was better.
Defense needs to improve big time, even though we have a few injuries and a safety gone with personal matters.

The biggest thing with the defense was adjustment. In previous years, Utah would've been able to keep going to town on us, but things were changed in the second half and we shut them down. Things are going to be ok, provided Sheridan never sees the field again.

RichRod is already doing well on the recruiting trail and, unless the apocalypse occurs on the field, should only get stronger. His recruiting in the trenches is pretty shit thus far, especially along the dline where there is very little depth. Will Campbell is a beast though. He still doesn't understand UM, reminds me a lot of how Cooper didn't understand OSU. As long as RR continues to weigh The Game on par with Notre Dame and Michigan State then tOSU's winning streak will continue. That said though, it was damn funny reading the utah game thread on the Michigan Scout board. By the 2nd quarter they were all turning on RR and Barwis, calling McGuffie a pussy and saying the defense was terrible.

Michigan got very lucky that they didn't get beat by a lot worse considering the fumble at the very begininng by Utah and all of the penalties they had. Their dline is nasty though.. The light may have finally come on for Brandon Graham.

That's the typical Michigan fan, SB. Armageddon at the first bad sign. I'm not worried, as I've stated (or am trying to convince myself). The DL is rough mostly because of the lack of regional depth, so he has to go to Maryland, Cali and Nevada for a few reaches. OL is OK so far, but he'll get more. His recruiting is far from worriesome to me.

So...is anyone gonna stop overrating Tennessee every year? They underperform almost every year, it's ridiculous.

Chis feel free to correct me on this because I'm going on complete memory here, but I don't think UM signed a DE in 2007 or 2008.

Chis feel free to correct me on this because I'm going on complete memory here, but I don't think UM signed a DE in 2007 or 2008. 2007 we took Ryan Van Bergen, and he's the only DE on our roster (outside of the starters) who's actually showing he's decent enough to play. Outside of that, we've taken no DEs in the past two years. But we're going to get Roh soon, and if Carradine can get his legal issues/grades up to par we'll get him too and we'll be set there.. DT next year is going to be Mike Martin (who's basically a Taylor clone), Renaldo Sagesse, Jason Kates, William Campbell (who has a shot at starting even as a true frosh), and DeQuinta Jones.. Martin, Sagesse, and Kates all saw playing time in the first game and will see time throughout the season as we prepare for the future.. In the Utah game, we played 25!!!!! (13 of which were true freshman and redshirt freshman) players who previously had NO or LITTLE experience (as in less then like 5 games).. We're going to take our lumps now, but we'll have alot of experience in the future. Also, despite the crappiness of our line now, they'll have an entire year to get good and gel together as a unit. Next year all 14 of our scholarship OL will be coming back, don't lose a single one.

Don't forget the most important pick-up for Michigan next year: Morgan Trent is gone.
But this rivalry is certainly going to heat back up the next few years if UM pans out + finds a QB out of Shavyourdick Beaver and Tate Forcier.
Its going to be awfully ironic though in 2009 when Terrelle Pryor comes in running the zone read in Ann arbor.
