See, this is why America is fucked. We have people nit-picking over stupid shit like this. Oh wow, Obama said we have 57 states and McCain said Czechoslovakia is still a country. I mean honestly, people make it seem that this is a pop-culture election. How about we grill the candidates on the issues? Who gives a shit about where Sarah Palin's clothes come from? Jesus this population is picking the lamest things to criticize over. No matter who wins it seems the people won't be happy because everyone is criticizing over things that are pointless. It seems to be that this election is less liberal/conservative but more smart/stupid. Let me just say that the stupid bunch seems to be outnumbering the smart. A-fucking-men. Thank you for putting that into words, Freak.

Freak you gotta admit, thinking their are 57 states in the country you're running for President vs. thinking Czechoslovakia is still a country is a little worse. Still pathetic nonetheless. As for your second statement about this being a pop-culture election, that's exactly what it is and exactly why Obama will win.
If one of these rappers actually argued a good cause for Obama (there's plenty to argue for him but they don't) I'd clap my hands that they actually took the time to learn something and see whether they really like his ideas are good or not. Instead it's only because he's black (My President's Black!) and the people listening to their music are following right along with them. I can't believe how many stupid ass girls (old enough to vote too) are in love with him because they're pretty much being told to but know absolutely nothing about his politics.
The same goes for McCain. Half his voters are gonna be simply because "ZOMG SARAH PALIN!!!111!!!! She has a VAGINA I gotta vote for her!" You know there's something wrong when you're seeing more "SARAH!" signs then "McCain/Palin".
NOTE: Before anyone takes EVERYTHING I said in here literally, please understand that much of it is exaggerated but the point still stands.

Thank you for putting that into words, Freak. Everyone can bitch and moan about this country going to Hell, but guess who puts them there? If we vote like this is a damn beauty poll, we are screwed. If people actually were as intelligent as they like to say they are when it has come to this election, they would realize we have two incompetents running for the nation's top office. It is sad when a candidate is losing votes because someone believes he is Muslim or because of age. If you are not going to vote for one of these two, at least have solid reasoning behind it. I mean really, why are young people voting for Obama? Do they know his tax plans, health care plans, foreign policy? Probably not. They will cast that vote because he is the soup du jour. Just because some musician or somebody says they are voting for a guy doesn't mean you have to. Your political views should be more than "Go Obama!" or "Go McCain!". Conforming your vote is one of the most un-American things that happens in this day and age.

I feel you and I are in a region where we see a good amount of stupidity. I bet you any money all of the Lou Barletta supporters in Hazleton are voting on his name and not his issues. Image voting must stop in this country. Seriously, Obama Girl? What the fuck is that? How can anyone be mad when a foreign nation calls us "Stupid Americans"? Maybe me thinking we live in a stupid country makes me less patriotic. However, I think conforming, being uneducated, and not taking a true stand is the most un-American thing that can be done.

Loki, most rappers are young and rebellious......they like change. Just like their fans which are people that can relate to these rappers. Its obvious the younger crowd will roll with Obama because he will bring change and rappers are just trying to help raise voter awareness and support Barack- not just because he's black. I like how these rappers are creating groups catered to helping young voters decide and whatnot but no one outside the urban community looks at that kind of stuff. They see "oh, he's black and voting for Obama. What a coincidence". It's stereotyping.
And a lot of rappers argue for Obama but you dont really hear about it unless you watch BET, listen to radio stations, read internet blogs, etc.

92% of Black voters voted for Obama in the primaries...you're gonna tell me all those votes or even the vast majority were based on politics rather than race...

seriously you need your head examine if you voted mccain not saying obama is perfect or anything but seriously anybody who picks a bonehead like palin as his running mate can he really be trusted? I'll make sure to schedule my exam. Since, being a conservative, I'm retarded and the scum of America and all. Thank you. I didn't want to have to be the one to say it.

It keeps a degree of segregation, by having tv that is driven specifically toward black audiences. Not to mention, I personally feel it has created a culture of ignorance. At the very least in language. There is some good however. It is rebellious, which is awesome. Mainstream culture needs change, needs rap music. I don't care of it much, but it reflects the struggles and dreams of a community that I admit I don't understand well. I'm rambling here, but I think now is a great time to be talking about race. Do any of our black posters have anything to add or critique about what I have posted? (We talked about race today in sociology)

Rap gets a lot of heat but most rappers talk about their rise from nothing to something. Each rapper has a different story wheter it be 50 getting shot and dealing crack to Eminem trying to handle his marriage and raise his daughter. So yeah, it you're right when you talk about how it reflects struggle. However, todays rap music tends to be made for clubs. I love club music because I go to them alot but now a days you wont find lyrical rappers like Common, Lupe Fiasco, etc. People stereotype rap, BET, urban black people, etc. I dont think BET is so bad.....it's like MTV but has hip-hop and r&b. You dont have to be black to enjoy it. But, like MTV, they dont play too much music videos anymore and create shitty date shows, comic stand ups, and other shit. I use to watch BET myself but hardly do now that they dont focus on the music.

I don't care for the club type of music, hence why I tend to enjoy older rap. The rise of hip hop produced some wonderful art. It gives me perspective of how others are struggling in the United States, and makes me want to help the poorest of the poor have a chance to make it out. My issue with BET is as much about perception as anything. The whole promoting a total lack of command of the English language is the biggest issue for me. It promotes ignorance, which I don't think is going to help many black kids come from something to nothing. You know who I'm talking about too, the poor black kids stuck in the ghetto. I truely feel for them, and wish there were more positive role models for them to look up to.

I truely feel for them, and wish there were more positive role models for them to look up to. I feel for em too because i can relate to em. I lived in a ghetto in L.A. when I was young and live close to one near the USF campus down here. My mom gave birth to me at age 17 and my grandma would kick her out of the home and make her live on her own with me by her side and my stepdad nowhere in sight to support us. Instead of giving in to the idea of living in ghetto L.A, she worked hard to get us out. She would end up meeting my current father who was and still is a Marine Corps officer and now we're living the goodlife. Todays kids are lazy and dont want to find a way out the hood. They rather stick around with their homies and hoes and wander around cluelessy during the night time while playing xbox or riding their bikes during the day. It pisses me off. There ARE positive role models for them to look up to....Obama, some Pro and college athletes, etc. They just arent motivated. I also think these "role models" should reach out to these kids more. The only time I see that happening is during those NBA cares commericals where the players go to the ghettos and play with kids for a day and educate em. Because of these hoodrats, the african-american race continues to be stereotyped and that will never change until these rats start to change themselves. But hell, sometimes you cant the hood out of those types of people.

McCain.
He's +400 on sportsbook so I threw $50 on him to win $200
Obama is -700 which is a big favorite.

Really, I don't see the point in it. It's mostly all lies and stupidity. I'd like to see McCain win because he has more experience and he served for the country. It would hurt me if Obama won either. I just hope no "race wars" start after it's all said and done.
