I kind of don't want a playoff. I just like watching the bowls every year. I don't see why they couldn't do both. You hold an 8-team playoff utilizing the BCS Bowls for different locations and then do the rest of the bowls like normal. It's a win-win in my opinion. No one would get left out or anything like that. I think that's something people are missing out on, both could be done. There just needs to be a playoff for the National Title instead of a flawed computer/person system.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? Not that it matters. "no" is generally a word of disagreement theres no reason to add more pointless criteria trying to make it even more unlikely that the best two teams are playing in the championship. Why should a team that loses just one game in-conference overall (but doesnt win the conference) be considered less qualified than a team that wins their conference despite several losses and loses games OOC?

Conference Championship games are a huge part of the problem. Either every conference has to have them or none should. In some cases it works, such as the SEC this year. Some places it doesn't, like the Big XII this year.
Oh and I agree with David here, winning your conference championship shouldn't matter in terms of making the National Championship. Coming out of the Big XII this year with one loss is more impressive than coming out of the ACC or Big East undefeated.

I hate the damn rule that allows non-BCS teams an automatic bid... we would mop the floor with Utah right now (And Boise State as well).

Forgot about the Oregon State loss to PSU...I think they lost one more besides that, as well.

I see what you mean now. Why add more flaws to an already flawed system?

Wow...havent been on here for almost a week already....Had a great time closing "kinnick north" in Minneapolis this weekend!!! Just got back tonight from a great weekend of partying!!! I dont know whether iowa has improved so much so the first half of the season or Minnesota is just garbage.... Probably a little of both... I kind of don't want a playoff. I just like watching the bowls every year. I don't see why they couldn't do both. There just needs to be a playoff for the National Title instead of a flawed computer/person system. I agree with you Loki...I think they need to find a way to create a playoff based on the BCS and create bowl games based on how the playoffs go....

something else terrible is that its better to lose to a bad team instead of a really good team. Say team A and team B are both 11-1 at the end of the year with reasonably similar schedules and margins of victory. Team A lost to team B by 3, team B lost to someone who finished 6-6 by 10.
Who do you think voters put higher?
