Yes, good topic. I mean, there isn't another topic about Rutgers anywhere on this site. ;D

Pretty much impossible. USC or Notre Dame also have to win, and I think the winner of that will play in the BCS game against the winner of O$U/Michigan

I think, for RU to play in the NC, the following has to happen:
Cal/UCLA beats USC USC beats ND Arkansas beats Florida (SEC Champ. Game) Michigan beats Ohio State, preferably by more than 7 And last, but not least, RU wins out. This is not a given.
It's possible RU loses this weekend to Cincinnati. Coming off the big win at home, the Bearcats are improved, almost bowl eligible and this is their big game, national TV and all.
Then RU handles Syracuse and their season comes down to WVU. If they win in Morgantown, something they've never done, get the Big East title and play in a BCS bowl would be a spectacular season for them.
Losing to WVU and finishing 11-1 (or 10-2 with a loss to Cin.) is still an excellent season they can build on. I don't want all this NC talk to get people thinking it was a disappointing season if they finish with ten wins. They are having a great year and should continue to improve.

Zero percent. In fact, if negative percentages were possible, that would be it.

Agreed. And everyone's so damn high on Rutgers, but outside of Louisville, who the hell have they beat? I bet the fans were really sweating hard going up against Illinois or South Florida. Pitt, too. Even if they are lucky enough to beat WVU, which they won't do, they aren't more worthy of a title game shot than USC or Florida who, if they win out, will have played much tougher scheds. It's that simple.

Guys, Irck is just trying to talk smack. He probably doesn't think that Rutgers will make it either, he's just trying to make it look like he does.

Yeah....Florida State fan as long as I can remember, but when they bomb and Rutgers gets good, it's time for a bandwagon shift.

I love Florida State, it's just hard to root against a team from my state.

I love Florida State, it's just hard to root against a team from my state. I hate Cal and USC and I live in Cali. But then again my uncle played at UCLA.

that's different though. Rutgers is the only D1 school in the area...besides Penn State.

that's different though. Rutgers is the only D1 school in the area...besides Penn State. Rutgers and Penn State are not even remotely in the same area. Maryland is probably a shorter drive from RU and Temple is certainly closer. West Point too. But you were right the first time, Rutgers is the only show in town for D1 football.

I'll give it 20%. It's not impossible, and if they win out I think they deserve a shot. Beating WVU on the road is no easy task (despite losing to Louisville, I feel that they're the best in the Big East talent-wise), but it's going to depnd heavily on what the teams ahead of them do. But with all the craziness that's happened up to this point, it's defintely possible.
