They did the same thing when they hired Coker. I think Miami's problem is the fact that they don't have a ton of money to throw around.

I heard Jimmy Johnson say a week ago that it would be Schiano's job if he wanted it and, if not, Shannon was the guy. Dude was dead on.
He's supposed to be a solid recruiter and Miami's problems of late haven't been on the defensive side of the ball. Get a good OC and the 'canes are back.

Nah, the Hurricane$ probably have to spend to much on their amazing talent at jailback. Partly the reason I think they got a well umm...black coach. Someone to connect better with the players and get them on the right track...I mean about 85% of the Hurricanes are gangstas, the other 15% didn't realize what they were getting themselves into.

I don't think Shannon is a bad coach. I expect a better year next year, but not much better. Give it 2-3 years before we see either a Cane turnaround or they completley implode.

I don't think this guy can turn this train wreck around in one year. Is he going to coach the bowl game or is Coker still? Didn't know if Shannon would since they found a coach before the bowl.

I haven't heard who's coaching the bowl, but since Shannon's already there it only makes sense to let him take over now.
I'm not convinced they can't turn it around in a year. They won't be a true elite team for another two or three years at least, if Shannon is that level of coach, but I think he's good enough to start winning consistently right away. Hopefully we'll get a preview in a couple weeks.

Well good previews don't always pay off.
Hence John L. Smiths 8-5.

I thought they said Coker would be coaching the bowl game if they went to one. So Coker should be coaching this one, and I think they win!

I just have a feeling he won't because they said that when they didn't have a coach, now they do.
Most likely it will be Coker. But I wouldn't be surprised if Shannon did.
