Does this really even deserve a thread?
This announcement is about as shocking as finding out that President Bush is legally retarded would be.

This is the first time that I have actually watched a Buckeye win the heisman, and it was one of the greatest hour's I've ever spent watching TV.
Troy has carried this team from a lowly (By our standards) 8-4 season in 2004, to one of the greatest years in school history. Without him, none of what we have accomplished is possible. If Justin Zwick was at quarterback for us, you might as well just put our conference position below Penn State. And to think, all of this was accomplished by a guy who was only offered a scholarship after everyone else that we wanted signed elsewhere, not to mention that he was listed as an athlete for the first two years of his career.
Also, I find it funny that a guy who returned kickoffs against Washington in the 2003 season opener has now won the Heisman as a quarterback.

I hate Troy Smith.
I don't think I have ever hated someone so much in my life. They act like he is the best player to step foot on a football field. He hasn't really played any good defenses all year, and to top that off they really have not played anybody BUT Michigan and Texas.
I could care less about his story. Big deal he's a "brother from the hood". There are plenty of "brothers from the hood" out playing college ball. There are plenty of kids playing college ball right now where there fathers left them. I don't think he will be playing on Sundays. He will be like Eric Crouch. I can't wait until he gets tore up on Jan. 8th. Then he can go back to his program.
Not to sound racist or anything but if a white man would have won the hiesman like Turnins back round (assuming he is a white kid that seems like he has tough times) will we hear how his mother had to work 2-3 jobs to support him? Would we hear the programs he was in to keep him out of trouble? Would he hear how he did the right thing and stayed out of trouble?
No, we would not hear any of that.
All we heard from Brady Quinn was that he does good in college. I don't even remember hearing anything about David McFadden.

I don't even remember hearing anything about David McFadden. That's obvious, since his name is Darren.

Clayton. Big Freaking woop.
How about playing against Penn State, which has one of the best defenses in the country?
Who cares if he hasn't played anyone but Michigan and Texas. Take a look at how he did in those games. Those were his heisman spotlight games, and he more than proved that he could do it.
And, No, they aren't treating him like the best player to step foot on a football field. They did the same thing when Reggie won it last year, and when Matt won it the year before.
And you can say that he will get torn up on January 8th, just like Statboy or whatever the hell is name is. All you are doing is giving Florida fans a bad name.

clayton I don't like Troy either, but he did tear up a very good Michigan defense.
Quinn, on the other hand, won against absolutely NOBODY and did nothing against real competition.

Why do people think Troy will suck in the NFL?
He may not be excellent but I think he'll do good. He can run and pass. I don't see whats going to hold him back.

The main thing is, Troy hasn't reached anywhere near his potential yet.
Everyone is seeing the accuracy and throwing power that he has, and if he has the right coaching in the NFL, he could become a legend.
That being said, he will most likely be a second round pick, but there are rumors that some teams may take a chance on him late in the first round.
And also, Clayton, how in the hell can you compare Troy Smith to Eric Crouch?
Edit: And, yes, this is the opinion of a highly-biased Buckeye fan.

And also, Clayton, how in the hell can you compare Troy Smith to Eric Crouch? Seconded. Troy Smith is being scouted as a quarterback, not a wide receiver.

I think Smith will end up being too short to be a great NFL QB personally. I also don't think he was the best player in that room last night, nor did he do more for his team than anyone else there. He was a great player on an undefeated team and that's what it takes.
The best player is Darren McFadden from Arkansas. No one was as critical to the success of their team as him. He caught passes for touchdowns, he ran for touchdowns, he returned kicks for touchdowns, and hell threw three touchdown passes! He was the best player in America this year for my money, but being a sophomore , I can't say I'm surprised he lost to a Senior. It's how that game works.

And also, Clayton, how in the hell can you compare Troy Smith to Eric Crouch? Seconded. Troy Smith is being scouted as a quarterback, not a wide receiver. Crouch was being scouted as a defensive back not a receiver. I said Eric Crouch because they were both quarterbacks. I know I used a bad person to compare to because Eric Crouch was way better then Troy Smith. I also said that because Crouch failed in the NFL and Smith will do the same. "All you are doing is giving Florida fans a bad name." Why because I said I can't wait until he gets tore up on Jan 8th? I'm giving Florida fans a bad name? Why? Because, I'm talking trash? I guess you don't play much sports and if you do you must not start because everything that is competitive there are going to be people running their mouth.

C'mon now, Crouch wasn't nearly as good as a passer. He played that option style offense at Nebraska and obviously didn't have to pass the ball that much. On the other hand, Troy Smith has passed for quite a few yards this year. It's not that I think Smith is all that great of a quarterback, but to suggest that he is near the same level of Eric Crouch is just foolish.
I'm interested in seeing how Florida handles his mobility too. The SEC wasn't exactly filled with speedy QBs this year. Really the only two I can think of are Chris Nickson and Andre Woodson, and Florida didn't exactly win those games by a ton of points.

Uh I play three sports. I started at wide receiver in football. I start on defense in soccer. I start at third base in baseball. I know everyone talks trash, and I'm guilty of doing it too. I just prefer to let my team's play do the talking for me. I'm not going to stoop down to your level and get into an argument with you. Forgive me for not being raised watching a coach that loves to run up the score.
Just because you think Troy will fail doesn't mean he will. Have you even watched him at all this season? He has barely run the ball at all. He has become a complete quarterback. He has the pocket presence that so few quarterbacks possess. If your going to insult someone by saying that thier quarterback fails, at least watch our team play.
Oh, and by the way, Troy steps up his game when the spotlight shines brightest. I don't see Chris Leak doing that. Most, if not all, members on the site hate OSU and everything it stands for. But, they can all at least show some respect for him and the University. They all can say that he has a lot of potential when he reaches the NFL.

I know your going to be the biggest OSU fan. Not because your going to jump ship or anything but since Florida just completely owns Georgia, I can understand where your coming from.
