msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/6276548Not only do we lose Smith, but Ginn, Barton, Pittman, and Gonzalez. Although, Pittman and Gonzo are the only ones that have hinted that they may withdraw from the draft. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Gonzo come back, seeing as how he is very interested in his education.

Ahahaha.
Especially with Michael Hart coming back at Michigan, you guys are in some deep trouble if nobody steps up quick.

Uhh, DB, we return 9 defensive starters. So, it's more about finding someone to score, not stop scoring.
We might still run the spread next year. We have a guy by the name of Antonio Henton who is redshirting this year who has a similar skill set the Troy had coming in. I don't think he will be anywhere near Troy's level, but I'd expect to hear his name a lot next year if Boeckman or Schoenhoft struggles.
But here's the thing about our running back situation. Chris Wells will take over for Antonio Pittman, and if he can crack down on the fumblitis he started to develop late in the year, he can have a big time season for us. Then, we will have Brandon Saine, a regular ole true freshman Reggie Bush. Saine stands at 6-0 205, and runs a 4.34 in the 40, 0.01 faster than Bush. I know it's not much, but still, it's Reggie. Blue-chipper Johnny Clay is also favoring us.
Wide receiver is by far our deepest position on the team. We have a young man by the name of Ray Small, who has similar, notice similar, not the same, speed of Ted Ginn. We have Brian Hartline, and Brian Robiske, who both shined in the limited playing time they saw this season. Albert Dukes, Devon Lyons, and possibly a little Brandon Saine here.
Replacing Barton will hurt a lot, but we have a blue-chipper from last year in the form of Connor Smith that will fill the void. I'm more concerned about replacing the other graduating members of our offensive line, which are Doug Datish, T.J. Downing, and Tim Schafer.
We will have to replace the most athletic defensive tackle ever to play at Ohio State, in Quinn Pitcock, who happens to come from the same school as the incoming Brandon Saine.

You guys still gave up 39 points to Michigan with that defense.
You'll have to replace enough guys to score 42 again.

We still have 9 of those guys with a year's experience in the starting lineup. This team next year will remind me of the 04 team. We had a fabulous defense, but we had to replace most of our offense.

HAHA...you won't be near that of the 04 team, they had it all....great defense and great offense, next year your offense will struggle more if those guys leave....

Are you kidding me?
We struggled mightily through that season.
Troy Smith didn't even start until midway through the year, and the offense didn't exactly roll. Justin Zwick quarterbacked our team through half of the year, and we were horrible under him. Lydell Ross is quite possible the worst running back ever to play at Ohio State. And if you recall, our best running back had somewhere in the 400-700 yard range.
ASM, you might be thinking of 2003. Because we went 8-4 in 2004.

Maybe he means 03-04 Anyhow, this coupled with Henne, Long, and possibly Hart returning we have a super shot at winning the Big Ten next year ;D

Chis, forget the Big Ten, you guys are the favorites to win it all next year, at least in my book.

Chis, forget the Big Ten, you guys are the favorites to win it all next year, at least in my book. Argh. I don't want to hear any of those talks. We still don't know if Alan Branch is staying, and if he isn't then we lose our 3 starting defensive lineman. We are also losing David Harris and Prescott Burgess in the linebacking corps, and in the secondary we lose All-American Leon Hall and safety Willis Barringer. That's 8, possibly 9 defensive starters from this season leaving. Offensively we're set, but defensively we're going to look like the Buckeyes of this season, which sounds like a very appealing thing

I'll take a stout USC defense. With John David, a better running game, and some talented, even though un proven, WR. Over Michigan. Next year.

I think Michigan is a bowl victory away from being next years favorite. Returning Henne and Hart is great and the offensive line is always stout. But then we have Mario Manningham, Doug Dutch and Adrian Arrington with Laterryal Savoy finally getting to play after being redshirted. The defense will be decent, although we are losing a ton in Hall, Woodley, Harris, and Branch (possibly). But didn't people say the same about Ohio State about a year ago???

The biggest key for Michigan next year is the fact that Jake Long is returning.

Definately, without that bookend tackle the offense wouldn't be the same.

I think the biggest key for the Ohio State offense next year is our Jake Long, who happens to go by the name of Alex Boone. I think in a year or two, he will be drawing comparisons to Jake.

I don't ever remember Jake getting beat like Boone got beat during the Michigan game.

Its not everyday you play against a giant-killer like Lamar Woodley. Luckily Boone survived the encounter ;D.
