...might want to get some facts straight...look at the number of wideouts that get injured in a season, then look at the number of pitchers... Cubs especially (names Prior and Wood come to mind often) True, pitching takes quite a toll on your arm, and you can run into other problems (back, etc.) later in your career. But consider football. He could get lit up just once, land funny, and could be paralyzed for life. Football without a doubt is the more risky choice for the guy.

I personally think that, if he's skilled enough (I haven't really followed his baseball career) and can land a regular spot in a major league pen then he's better off because the salaries in the Majors are just ridiculous. If he ever became a near .500 starter, he'd be making 10x more than he'd make in the NFL just because pitching seems to be way overpriced in the majors. I mean, Ted Lilly makes 10mil a year and he's barely a .500 guy.

actually I completely agree with you he was kinda stupid for announcing it so soon. What if he hurts his elbow/arm and cant play baseball? He could of at least have a team to play for. How old is he now, 22-23? Let's say he plays hardball for three years, and blows his arm out. Can't pitch anymore. So you're 25, 26 years old, and baseball's not an option. If he decided to go back to football, he'd have to get back into football shape, and that process could take months. So realistically, based on what I've said, he would be 27 or so before playing football again. I don't know of many teams, if any, would be willing to sign a 27-year old receiver who hasn't played a down in the NFL. Remember, this is all hypothetical. I can think of quite a few teams that would take a chance on a guy like that.

Like I said earlier in this thread, he'd make a decent third or fourth option on a team. He's fast, but he pales in comparison speed-wise to today's top receivers. With that said, like Ripper noted, he's going to make more bank as a somewhat average pitcher in the bigs since pitching is now at a huge premium. I'm not saying he wouldn't make it in the NFL, I just think his road will be a little tougher since he's going the baseball route, and if he ever decided to give the NFL a try.

Back-Up QB to Manning/Brady I mean you play in 4 preseason games, then get 20 downs a year and your making half a mill. seriously if I ever have a kid I am going to train him to be Jim Sorgi.
