Well I went to the fan frenzy and game like I always do this year. I was really excited after I left the fan frenzy. I walked out with autographs from Chad Henne, Tom Zbikowski, Xavier Adibbi, Eddie Royal, Dantrel Savage, Yvenson Bernard, and many more.
The game was by far the best Senior Bowl I have ever watched. Colt Brennan hurt his draft stock yet again. He played awful, while Andre Woodson played decent, Ainge was pretty good. Henne was an absolute beast with 2 TD passes. He did absolutely amazing.
I will post some pics later...

I've never gotten the whole "autograph" thing. Does anyone understand why you would want an autograph, especially from a college kid? I mean seriously these guys statiscially speaking will not amount to much yet people always want their autographs. I don't get it. If say it was a legend like Rice, Gretzky or Jordan I would sorta understand but still these guys are just regular people what makes getting their autograph so cool? (as apposed to just meeting them)

Not trying to be mean cooljayu, but if you're a big time fan of college football you want those autographs. It doesn't matter if it isn't worth any money, it's worth everything to you. That's the only thing that matters

Me and my dad used to go to Bills training camp every year for like 6 years and I have an old school Bills helmet with autographs crammed all over it. Everyone from Jim Kelly, Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas to Matt Darby, Todd Collins and Antoine Smith. It's just a cool reminder of those times.

Plus plus, it's like an artifact of you actually meeting them.

He played juniors, then for the Indianapolis Racers, then joined Edmonton the year before the WHA collapsed. At least I'm 90% sure on that.

you should be 100% sure cause you're right he never went to college but I get what DB was getting at. However I just feel autographs are pointless. Sure they remind of you the good times but wouldn't a pic do more for you than the signature of an athlete. I just find it ridiculous wanting an autograph from some kid who's almost the same age as me. I would rather have the autograph of a firefighter or a police officer or docter, people who actually contribute to society. (not saying all athletes/celebs dont but probably 80-90% dont)

However, I believe that athletes contribute in ways such as bringing happiness and entertainment. If you don't like autographs, that's cool, but I don't think it's ridiculous at all that some "kid" is signing autographs. I bet no one thinks about it when 20 year old Sidney Crosby is signing for them.

I'm thinking it. I'm sure there is alot of people that think it too. I would never ask for an athlete's signature. What value does it hold? It's just some writing on a piece of paper. Also I dont view contributing to happiness and entertainment as contributing to society especially when they're paid millions of dollars. Honestly I think getting attention in general puts athletes in horrible positions. I know what they've been through, in HS I was the "big shot" football player and got some attention. But, it never felt right. It never felt like I deserved it any more than my some of friends who worked a job as well as going to school and had shitty parents too. I'm not defending some of the decisions they make (Chris Henry, Pacman, etc.) but honestly the next time you're about to bug a athlete for his sig when he's just trying to live his life think about this: they just regular people like you and me.

I understand that they're just people too, but to think that an athlete's signature holds no value is stupid. I have many things signed and I know for damn sure they have value. In addition, I have things personalized to me that holds sentimental value to me. That's the value an athlete's signature holds.
Look, again, I get that you think athletes are held too highly. I agree. They make too much and get too much attention. But to say that getting autographs is stupid and that they hold no value is just nieve.

(as apposed to just meeting them) Not trying to be rude or anything, but are you calling my dad a fool for getting Brett Favre's autograph when he played in the Senior Bowl. The autographed football card of him at Southern Miss. So how stupid do I look now that I have an autographed college football card of Brett Favre. Also, you have to remember that these guys are going to be legends one day, especially Henne. After seeing him pick apart a defense that consisted of 6-7 guys dropping in coverage every time. No blitzing in Senior bowl. I don't actually go for the autographs, I just happen to get them when I get there. I go there to get to carry on conversations with players. To see what they are behind the scenes. Like my favorite player I met would have to be Cody Wallace or Bowmen from Ok State. Wallace was so classy. He was really talkative towards me. Told me about some of his expierences in games and such. Bowmen was SOO funny. Had on my Saints hat with a bama shirt. He was talkin about how he beat us in the bowl last year, and then sucked up to me telling my I need to call Shaun Peyton and tell him to draft him. Although after watching the game I wouldn't mind the Saints drafting Rodgers-Cromartie. He played AWESOME!

I'm not saying I got a bunch of legends, but there are a decent amount of good NFL players in this years class. Zbikowski is going to be pretty good, reminds me of John Lynch. He was around the ball all game. Henne doesn't even need to be explained if you watched the game. Forsett didn't impress me at all. Savage and Bernard ran pretty good. Matt Forte was a beast though. He was just pounding people all day. Also Peyton Hillis did a good job. Andre Caldwell played good along with Donnie Avery. I think Cody Wallace had like 20 pancakes. lol. He was putting people on his ass all day.
Joe Flacco from Delware showed some good potential. He has a great arm. Brennan, Woodson nor Booty showed me anything really good. That punter from the north was awesome too. Can't spell his name but he had like a couple punts go 60-70 yards.
Overall, I loved the game and the players in it. If you don't know how this game ended, shame on you!

Just some guy who plays a sport. I never got it. I do agree with backstop about the whole talking to the players. I have always liked to do that but more because I like to hear theire stories and whatnot not just cause they're "famous".

Talking to players is the cool thing, but sometimes that signature is worth money. I've got a football signed by DeMeco Ryans, rookie of the year last year. Also have a card signed by LT and Shaun Alexander.
Odd trend I noticed when I went to the thing Backstop is talking about, guys from USC were normally my favorites to have a convo with. That TE that had a year or two ago, Byrd I think it was, was by far the most fun to talk to. Actually carried on a five minute convo with him as others passed by. Worth the trip.
