This was found on a Maryland Terrapins message board. A student at Duke e-mails something like this to every student in the school just before a home game. I just thought it was awesome how they set this up like this...
Duke vs. Virginia Cameron Indoor Stadium January 16, 2005
The Basics - -For most of us, welcome back. This is the first ACC home game for Duke with school in session. Let's be loud, -Though most of you probably know, the team is a little thin at the moment, but they keep pulling out gutsy wins. Let's give them the applause they deserve when they step on the court. -Please, Please, please remember to slow down your cheers. If they starting to fast people don't have enough time to catch on.
The No, No's... -Freshman...when we are on defense, DO NOT WAIVE YOUR HANDS while shouting "ohhhhhh"... this is only for when a player fouls out or when the opposing team does something we don't agree with. -The "Our House" cheer should be used very sparingly, not when we're crushing an opponant. -Please do not bring bags into Cameron. Security doesn't like it, and they're going to start turning people away for it
The dirt on Our Opponant - The UVA Cavaliers -The head coach is Pete Gillen. Many of you know about his recent problems with job security. This is NOT something to taunt him about. Coach K berated the crowd for such taunts to another coach last year -Coach Gillen if often criticized for calling quick timeouts. Perhaps if Duke scores the first basket or right around the first minute of the game we could start chanting "Time out, Pete", "Time out, Pete." -I'm going to set the over/under for UVa's first time out at 2 minutes...any takers? -Coach Gillen sweats...a lot -Gillen has a big head, and kind of looks like a goomba from Super Mario Brothers Gillen tends to put a towel on the ground and kneel on it during games. Perhaps we can point back and forth between him and crazy towel guy and chant, "Crazy Towel Guy, Sweaty Towel Guy."
-#32 - Jason Cain: When he goes to shoot a free throw, try chanting "you killed Abel" (as in the story of Cain and Abel) -#44 Sean Singletary: He is UVa's freshman point guard. Let's do everything to get under his skin (much like we did to Wake's Chris Paul as a Freshman last year). His mom's name is .... Father's name is ..., and has two older brothers, .... and ..... Apparantly he enjoys listening to music. -#33 Devin Smith: This kid is impressive. Last year he had a heniated disk and wasn't able to practice, but still played in all the games. If anyone has ever had a herniated disk, they know its hard enough to walk. He deserves our respect.
The Blue Devils - We've got some new ones... -Any time someone makes a nasty play against the other team (like a block or a steal) try chanting "you got served, you got served". -#15 Sean Dockery: any time Dockery makes a steal, let's chant "Kleptomaniac! Clap Clap Clap, etc #5 Daniel Ewing: Dan the Man, in the same cadence as Let's Go Duke. #21 Demarcus Nelson: "He's on Da-Mark" or "Hey Markie You're so fine" (Hey Mickie)
-Have suggestions for ideas or cheers? Add the name "CheerSheets" to your AIM Buddy List. Thanks to those of you who have already sent stuff...keep it up! -Please do not give out CheerSheets screen name to people at other schools...I'm tired of dealing with them! -Next Home Game-Maryland, Wednesday, January 26 @ 9:00.

I was going to Duke once upon a time coming out of HS and have a few buddies there.... when we went on a recruitment trip for ftball we got to sit in the Duke student section...... such an absolute blast.
At BU, the bball attendance was VERY low, and as freshman we went to the first few games and my floormates and I got under the opponents skin (Dartmouth was the first game I think), so the AD gave us season tickets behind the visiting bench. We all started researching the other teams too... in a small gymnasium, especially for these kids who aren't THAT good under pressure, got to be a lot of fun. We tried to do the same thing to Cincy (EAAAASY to talk trash to that bball program), but we were EASILY drowned out in Pittsburgh at the tourney by Bearkats.... and of course BU got thrashed. Still a good time for all.
When y'all get to college, go to all of the events. I've never had a really bad time at a college sporting event. The girlfriend loves going to UT volleyball and even that is awesome.... the gym usually sells out (around 3800) and is ROWDY loud... just for volleyball.

My high school has about as much of a college atmosphere as a high school of 1,000 can have. We generally get a pretty good crowd for Volleyball games at a HS, but then again winning 5 outta the last 6 State Titles will kind of help that along a little. Basketball games can also get pretty loud and crazy, mainly due to the setup of our gym, that puts the student's section only a half a foot off the floor.
We just can't seem to get football right, but that is one of the things that has me looking forward to going to college, probably Alabama for me. Just would like to add, we got a good atmosphere but nothing like what I have seen at Alabama games of both basketball and football, hell even South (Alabama) is pretty good with the fans and stuff.

any school with a decent on campus or near campus living for students is gonna have an awesome attitude. UTSA and TxState are really nothing because 60% of TxSt commutes and like 98% of UTSA commutes, therefore the experience sucks.
Anything where most of the kids live on campus is awesome pretty much.

My highschool does the Duke D when it is a close game in the 4th only though. We make fun of the other team for anything.
For Example:
last game there was a kid with socks that were taped up to his knees (high socks mind you) and we tore him apart, he also had long gay hair, got him for that too.
Then when the other teams sub varsity started chanting "Air Ball" after a 3/4 court buzzer beater we started chanting "Scoreboard", then I noticed they had a hot mom and everyone started chanting "Your Moms a MILF" *clap clap clap clap clap* "Your moms a MILF" ect...
I also nearly got arrested for chasing refs after a horrible call that lost us a game last year.
Edited to say also:
We also made an aunt cry after we chanted "Air Ball" the whole game at her nephew after he air balled...... in warm ups.

Wow Jeff, you guys are thingys. Welcome to every sports event I go to, and yes, that includes Phillies games. I'm telling ya, seeing the Golden State Warriors at home was so weak compared to the Sixers, phew.

Pretty funny, the first game we sat behind the vistors bench at BU, we made a mom cry and had a player give us the finger. Good times.... I didn't realize it until the end of the first game that the opponents families sat in rows 3-5 behind the bench for our arena. Shame we were in row 1 and could hear everything we were saying about their precious boys

haha you guys are great. That Duke stuff just reminds me of the beating we're going to give them in Cameron after we beat UVA at home and NC State. Well, I hope so at least.
MD needs to let Mike Jones play alot more, great sophomore. D.J. Strawberry always gets more time, plays great defense but cant shoot for sh*t. Jones could shoot the lights out, and play pretty good D as well... And anybody who has watched MD, knows we need a 3-point shooter BAD.
btw, while im talking about this I just noticed FSU beat Wake at home 91-83 in OT. ACC Teams at home I tell ya, thats why the conf. is so great. FSU is freakn great at home, beaten Duke 2 years straight there, and now they take out #3 WF.

Will NEVER work.....at all..... these kids are at Duke for a good reason He's right. Just because they're nerds with horribly corny chant ideas for Virginia doesn't mean they're stupid. In my horribly biased opinion, the Dookies have nothing on the Grateful Red in Mad-Town, though. The Badgers have the nation's longest home winning streak for a reason. Give the crowd credit for fueling that 11-0 run to end the game against MSU. I only wish I could go to the Illinois game Tuesday night. Sure, they'll get their asses handed to them, but it'll be a fun atmosphere. As for high school, I go to one roughly 1/2 the size of Bama's..haha. The thing is, though, I don't think you can beat the atmosphere of a small school in high school sports. When we can literally get half the student body into the gym, it's always fun..haha. The best turnouts here are for volleyball (somewhere around 10 conference championships in a row), football (went to state for the first time a few years ago, kicked the #2 ranked team in our division's ass in the final regular season game of this year), girl's basketball (12 straight conference championships), and hockey (hey..it's Wisconsin.) A couple nights back our girl's basketball team was playing the team currently #1 in the conference (we're at #2 right now), who also had an undefeated record. Better yet: it was Onalaska Luther, a private school that has a ton of kids we've known since pre-school. This gives us an inside scoop on dirt..haha. Anyway, by the end of the game we were winning by 15 and chanting "Hey all you Luther fans go out and start your vans". Yeah, we're not that great and coming up with chants.

Really, it's not all about being cocky, but rather creative. Take for example the playoff game vs. New Orleans, where AI went off for 55 points. I had courtside tickets (late birthday present), and relentlessly tormented David Wesley and the size of his ears. How random is that? So much so that it pissed him off to no end, talking an equal amount of trash to my dad and I on trips down the floor. That's one more "T" he put in the boxscore, lol.

It reminds me of before my school's game with Murphy High School (second oldest rivalry in the state) and they had come and painted our school. Called us the McDildos, drew penises on our walls, and called us their bitch. Turns out, the brillant little artest can't spell Murphy right, leaving out the "h." So we got the last laugh on that one but unfortinatly couldn't repay the gift, as they told us they would do unspeakable things to the people that did more "art"
