just to mention it.... i love my horns, but I don't know if they're worthy of a #2 or #3 ranking (depending on the poll)..... will be relying a lot on their young guys... if aldridge is all he's cracked up to be (looked great against st. marys last week), then maybe they are worthy of it No offense, but I gotta agree with you. Same goes for OU...

No offense, but I gotta agree with you. Same goes for OU... none taken at all, I just don't know if they deserve it.... I mean I hope they stay up there and all, they do play Duke in MSG early in the season..... I went to the Mizzou/UT game last year and if I remember correctly, Mizzou has some pretty good young talent also.....

Robino, I'm not sure about the incoming freshmen this year, but I know this year's sophomores are going to be core of the team this year. Grimes is a stud inside, and Dandridge and Horton are excellent in the backcourt. Horton, however, has to cut down on the turnovers...
Throw in a couple of seasoned vets in McKinney and Gardner (both shooters) and you have a decent team. However, I still think the Tigers are a new coach and one year away from going deep in the tourney.

I think they might be overseas, but I can't be too sure of that. And, the other one you are thinking of is Arthur Johnson. All 6-9, 270 pounds of him.

Coach K is not the best coach in the nation, and Reddick isn't the best player. Ugh I hate Duke so much.

Alright, here's my two cents on UNC and their ranking. If you don't know...UNC basketball is my heart and soul. I love it...I was there when they sucked...when Bill Guthridge brought in people like Will Johnson (red headed white kid who sucked) and Adam Boone and Brian Morrison...but anyways...
Top 25 worthy? --- No, there leading returning scorer is David Noel. I think he averaged 3.7 points per game...which doesn't say much for what's coming back. Tyler Hansbrough is supposedly a high energy guy and hopefully he'll be in shape to play deep into games. That's asking a lot of a young guy who has to face ACC competition.
Reyshawn Terry is primed to break out for UNC. I remember seeing him play great at times last year...he is a solid small forward who can flat out score.
Quentin Thomas better improve his ball-handling skills...because I was extremely upset at him last year. I thought he was pretty bad, especially coming into UNC with such high regard. Hopefully that was just first year jitters and he plays MUCH better.
Wes Miller might surprise some people...he transferred to UNC last year, hauling from James Madison (VA). He's a pure shooter and hopefully they can set up some plays for him to knock down some big 3's. He's a bit undersized but he's the classic hustle player.
I've mentioned Noel and Hansbrough. Noel will need to be the defensive leader of the team. He's gonna have to guard the opposition's best player, and shut him down. We're gonna miss Jackie Manual...a forgotten member of last year's team.
Hansbrough just needs to develop quickly. From what I've read...he looks like he could do well this year.
There are a couple freshman who are supposed to get some time. Bobby Frasor is the only one I know off the top of my head. Also, Byron Sanders, who sucks on the offensive end, will be a big body for UNC. He has experience and he can fill in somewhere.
Last thing...I'm sad to see that Damien Grant, the 7' Jamaican won't play basketball anymore. It's too bad his health problems got to the point where he had to stop playing.
I LOVE UNC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to a new era of Tar Heel basketball stewi, I am a die-hard Jayhawk, (really don't like Bill Self yet) and I go to Oklahoma State, so the love for Kansas is really being tested. Anyhow back to UNC, you will find shortly that Coach Williams doesn't need to have a group of star players to win. What he does need is a quick group to run up and down with, and some depth on bench, (his biggest problem this year). Players with heart are a plus, and he seems to find them, (Nick Collison one of two players earning a Dicky V. standing ovation...recieved in a game against Texas where he accumulated 20ish rebounds, and a handful of points and just played hard.)
Final Word, the Dean's protege has arrived!

As most of you may know, Hansbrough hails from my home state of Missouri, from Poplar Bluff. I watched the Missouri 5A title game last spring and he wasn't even the most impressive Hansbrough on the floor. His younger bro, Ben, I think is his name, and he lit up nationally-ranked Vashon High out of STL for 30+ points, using a variety of moves, threes, and getting to the foul line. All of that as a sophomore. Tyler looked just OK in that game. Nothin special, but he was above-average.

The ACC is gonna be tough though.
