Upset Saturday continues...the Hoyas knock off Duke, 87-84 in D.C. Honestly one of the best games I've seen all year. Georgetown missed a free throw with like 8 seconds left, Paulus takes the ball up court but loses it trying to look for Redick. Literally everyone in the MCI Center stormed the court...I even saw a guy in a wheelchair storming the court. Great game overall...glad the Dookies lost.

I didn't see much of that game, as Kentucky/South Carolina and now Alabama/LSU taking up my viewing time. I did watch the last two minutes (as LSU was starting a big run to get the lead at halftime) and well, I'm glad to see Duke go down.
BTW Jami, how about those North Dakota State Bison? ;D

Finally, I have a good friend that loves Duke. When the Illini lost he was all cocky. Now It's my turn.

They didn't even bother to show the Wisconsin game here since they figured the Badgers would kill ND State. 22% shooting as a team will kill you, no matter who you're playing.
So much for the Big Ten being the best conference in basketball, huh?

Not in these times when the talent is spread so far across the country. Back when Indiana did it, there weren't as many athletic players in the NCAA game, so it was easier for them to physically outplay their opponents. These days, in most cases the teams are so close to being equal in talent that it comes down to motivation and coaching. 39 games is a very long time to stay motivated, especially when losing a few games throughout the course of the season doesn't matter in the long run.

Florida just got beat by Tennessee, 80-76 in another fantastic game today.
I'm just upset Tennessee was the team to do it to Florida, would have rather it been the Iran National Team.

nope they all fell today...as for the Duke game, i watched it start to finish, and Duke looked terrible till about 9 minutes to go. IMO I thought the Devils didnt even look like a top 25 team for the first 3 and a half quarters. But they turned it on at the end but fell short, glad to see them go down

selfish ball and an overurgency/lack of composure in the final 6, 7 minutes killed the devils this afternoon

IMO it helped them...once they started driving on the Hoyas they were unstopable...look at the few times they tried to go inside, it got stopped...but when guys like Paulus and Redick drove they got fouled and knocked down free-throws, they just played bad in the first half, and the lead was to insurmountable

I don't know the number, but I'd venture to guess the number of turnovers on those out-of-control drives inside in the final minutes WAY outweighed the free throws/benefits.... too wild, too out-of-control, absolutely no composure at all which is an abnormality for a Coach K led team - but at the same time, he'll let JJ do whatever he wants. JJ played in the lane towards the end as most people play on the video games.... trying to get in the lane, then just circling around until he is able to get off some sort of shot.
(I counted 5 Hoya steals, or more correct Duke TO's, in the final 4 minutes in the play by play)

they also brought it to just two, i see your point and it did hurt them, but if they didn't drive the lane they loose by 15+

The thing about Florida is that from what I've heard, they didn't play all that badly against Tennessee - Bruce Pearl just had the Vols pumped for that game and they played way over their heads. Tennessee could be a very dangerous team down the stretch...one of those teams that you wouldn't want to face in the first couple rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
The interesting thing now will be seeing who will be #1 after this weekend...to me it looks like it'll be either Duke or UConn. If Duke stays #1 it'll be a benefit of having Florida lose, but UConn played well enough in their win against Louisville to be deserving of the #1 spot, IMO.

Well one problem for Florida was Brewer was gimpy most of the game after twisting his ankle pretty badly coming down from a rebound. Add that to Tennessee playing a complete game, like they did against Texas, and that arena was rocking and it was gonna be a very tough one for Florida to come out ahead in.
Then again, I also don't think Florida is as good as their record shows. I know they're winning but I just don't see an amazing talent difference compared to the rest of the league. I think LSU is probably a better team talent wise, Donovan is just a good coach and has had them playing over their heads this entire season.
Oh and UConn should be number one after all of that yesterday.

for the first 3 and a half quarters. Is it really that hard to shift your mind from NBA rules to NCAA? And, just a thought, if someone besides Redick could score for Duke they might actually win a few games. Sarcasm obviously because they have won a few games. But seriously, he had half of the teams points the entire game until about a minute to go.

only because the Hoyas shut down Sheldon Williams inside, 4 points is rediculus for a guy like him....they just didnt deserve to win that game
