My First Banner

I am using Macromedia Fireworks. I made my canvas at 500 pixels wide but the picture came out half of that. Besides the fact it is half the size it should be, what do you guys think?

It's a little bright, maybe darken Bonds' outline and the font.

And you have to set the dimensions manually, by typing it in, dunno if you did that or not.

I did, I set the dimensions 500x150 and it came out half of that. I'll go explore.

Put the font layer above the orange. But other than that, good start.

Photobucket resized it automatically so I'll host at imageshack from now on. I'll work on what you guys said.

.png sucks, I don't get why everyone uses it. :-\

I'm just going to test around a little while. I made a pretty decent Barry Bonds one, but the font wouldn't show because I layered the background with too many colors. The only color that'd show was yellow and that wasn't happening.

And maybe make the orange a little more transparent so you can see a little bit at least.

Instead of starting a new topic I'll just add on to this one. I made my first banner using the free trial of paint shop pro 9. It's my sig. Now I got a question: How do you make the picture a link in your sig? Thanks

Hey darjar --- to make your pics come out the right size on photobucket, you have to change the images to .jpg

It's a very simple process:
1) make your banner
2) save it in fireworks as a .png
3) open it in paint
4) save as .jpg
5) upload

Easy
