Troy Aikman's career stats:
61.5% comp pct. 32942 passing yards 165 TD 141 INT
Drew Bledsoe's career stats:
57.2% comp pct. 44611 passing yards 251 TD 206 INT
I know Aikman's got more rings (3) than Bledsoe (1, when he was injured), but look at the passing numbers he's had over the years. Is he a HOF candidate?

Hell. No.
Maybe they can let him stand in there as a statue though.
Aikman got in because he had the rings. If he only had one or zero rings, he's not in. But because he was part of that amazing offense, he got in. Also, Aikman I believe had his career cut short because of concussions, so he could have gotten close to the 40K yards and 400 TD mark if he had the chance

Bledsoe might be able to get into the Back-Up Hall Of Fame. Stats are not the sole reason why people are elected into the Hall Of Fame. It depends on your leadership skills, how you played, were you one of the best players at your position most of your career? Not only that, but Bledsoe doesn't have a ring he can call his own. So that puts him on a Marino-Like level. We all know why Dan Marino got in, and we all know that Drew Bledsoe is in no way a Dan Marino.

While I do disagree with him getting in the Hall, he was one of the most under-appreciated when it came to leadership from what I saw in Buffalo. He just kind of lost the team in his last season and that's when his career really tore apart...

I mean, I think he gets in because he'll undoubtedly pad his stats until he retires. And I have two words: Warren Moon. The man put up gawdy stats but didn't really accomplish much but he's in. Bledsoe is the Warren Moon of this generation.

Bledsoe is the Warren Moon of this generation. I highly doubt he'll ever get a starting job in the NFL again.

Again, just two words: Kerry Collins. The man has gotten starting jobs looooooooooooong after he should've become a career back-up.

His career really tore apart when he WENT to Buffalo >_> Career highs in pass completion, 2nd in yards, and 3rd in TD passes in his first year... it was his next two years when he failed to pass over 3000 yards despite starting all 16 games both years combined with his 31/28 TD/INT ratio and career low completion percentages that he started to suck.

So...if Peyton Manning doesn't win a Super Bowl as a starting QB, he doesn't get in either?

Why is it any different?
If Peyton goes down with an injury 3 or 4 years from now, and his backup leads them to a Super Bowl, what is any different? The fact that he broke a record?
10 years ago, we were annointing Bledsoe as the guy who would break all of Marino's records. He was throwing up huge numbers, the he got hurt. He hasn't been that great in the past few years and so now his reputation among the living is tarnished.
Peyton is doing the same thing...actually leading the same career as Marino. He's putting up huge numbers but he isn't getting anywhere. Sure he's set a few records, but that according to the logic put out here, that doesn't get him into the Hall.
I'm fairly certain Bledsoe will make it in, that's just me. Perhaps it's because I remember his earlier years because those do matter as well.

Part of the thing with Warren Moon is that he's black. One of the first black quarterbacks and one of the only ones. That's a big deal in the eyes of the National Football League though he wishes he wasn't recognized for that. Regardless he was an amazing quarterback and should be in. Bledose, at least I think, should get in as well. 2 Super Bowls, 1 ring, regardless of whether he won that ring or not..he started that season and even so look at his numbers. 40,000 passing yards isn't something easy to come by and I always felt it was something that will get you into the HOF. Then he has 251 touchdown passes, another big number.
While the Peyton Manning argument doesn't make sense to me because by the time he reaches the same time Bledsoe was at in his career, he will have much better numbers than Bledsoe did.

Manning is almost identical to Marino's career path at this point, minus the early super bowl appearance. He's already a lock, I feel.
As for Bledose, he's got the stats to get in and he basically matched what Marion did in his career and even exceeded it by getting a ring (even though he didnt play that game, he was a key part in getting them there for those of you that don't remember that Pittsburgh game.
He's in as far as I see it.

I don't think he gets in. The last few years have really hurt Bledsoe. He's played horrible since going to Dallas.
