If EA tweaks their gameplay on Madden a bit, I think they could have a really, really good game on its hands. Even though NCAA's gameplay is well ahead of Madden's, I think a minor adjustment would really go a long way. I'm also getting excited about Owner Mode. That looks pretty sweet. For someone that just usually plays Madden for the draft classes, I might actually get some actual gameplay use out of M08.

It's actually pretty accurate. The Eagles have a lot of 'what if' type of players on the team. I am liking this weapons thing though. I just hope it doesn't wear out fast.

I pre-ordered madden today and am excited to buy this version but what got me down is that EA gave out way too many high ratings. Champ Bailey is suppose to be the only shutdown corner in the league and in the game he has company. They also gave out too many 99 overall ratings.

I think that there are more shutdown corners in the league then Champ. There are too many by Madden standards. Champ is the best, but there are others I think can be considered to be shut down.

Yep, they've over-rated the Broncos AGAIN.

Dre' Bly and shutdown corner don't belong in the same paragraph. Javon Walker had a pretty ordinary season by NFL standards last year, and they've given him four "weapons". John Lynch is on the downside of his career. He didn't make a peep in the two games I saw him in, both against KC.

It'll be fun this year watching the Chargers dominate the AFC West, which I think will be one of the weaker divisions this year.

EDIT: I wish Spartan was around. He'd fight me tooth and nail on this. ;D

This doesn't exactly answer what it is, but this gamefaqs guy puts the FPS in perspective...

As it stands now, only a handful of games (literally, less than 12) are in existence that run at a true 60 frames per second. 30 fps is otherwise considered the optimal rate for a fast-twitch game to run smoothly and be also able to portray high-end graphics. The major reason I can imagine that the PS3 version isn't running quite as high is because there may be a few more graphical details added in to this version versus the 360 version. Not to knock the XBox, because it is a great machine, but it's no secret that technically the PS3 is capable of processing a greater level of fine details than any other console at the moment. And no, that doesn't mean that the overall detail will be better, but that when you run a replay and zoom in to the closest frame available, you will see the differences. One thing that was being touted last year (if you owned the Collector's Edition of Madden) was that the grass and distant background details would be much higher on the PS3 versions of Madden and NCAA. Granted, when playing at the normal view level, you will never notice that difference, it is something that takes up a bit more processing power to show. None of the screens we've seen so far show anything that closely zoomed in, but from what they've said, I can see why they'd have to sacrifice the FPS speed.

wow, i know Calvin Johnson is a freak athlete but his rating is way to high for a rookie.

Quinn faster than Russell isn't that surprising considering Quinn ran the faster 40 (EA goes by 40 times more than anything with Rooks).

How is Johnson's rating too high? Bush was an 87 last year, and Johnson is more physically gifted than Bush.
