Well, the Saints just got their asses handed to them, and it serves them right. I just knew all those pre-season wins would get to their head. Not really, no excuse for real.
Anyways, Sean Peyton didn't do to great with the play calling. We threw the ball way to much and gave up on the run early. Brees threw the ball 41 times I think. I know he was one of the best QB's from last year but he didn't even have success early. It was just one of them games where you stop throwing so much.
Also what the hell was Peyon thinking leaving this stupid former Colts CB play the whole game. Sure he scored a TD, but he got burt 3 freaking times on the deep ball. Well it's been a pretty bad night, lets hope Alabama can get a good win and balance the weekend out.
Dear lord, please don't let this be a bad year for me as a Saints fan...

I thought the Saints' playcalling was a bit conservative with shorter passes and whatnot. This is just from a casual observer watching the game on TV, but it just seemed that way.

Your actually right. I forgot to point that out also. Drew Brees's longest completed pass was 13 yards. Now we all know with Brees, Colston, and Henderson that big plays are available. I don't even remember the Saints trying for a big pass play...

Conservative........not even the right word for it.
I was dumbfounded........it's like Payton wanted to purposely go against what the world ws expecting out of this game.
Everyone expects high scoring pass offenses....well one of them showed up. I know what he was trying to...play keep away from Manning. But the dink and dunk passes to E. Johnson, Bush, and Colston were a bit ridiculous.
CB David needs to be DEEEEE-moted...........now. Toast....buttered, and way overdone, HOLY CRAP!

Yep, possibly the worst performance by a CB that I have ever seen. Humm? Maybe he blew the coverage on purpose cause he still loves Indi at heart...
All in all, the Colts showed up to play and we didn't. Did we play our best ball. HELL NO! We looked like a High School team out there. I really want to make the Super Bowl now and face the Colts so we can give them a better run. That game should have been a nailbiter.

Well, it was either have Fred Thomas get burned three times or this guy get burned three times. I really wish the Saints would have gotten a CB in the draft or worked in FA for at least a serviceable guy.
The biggest problem though was the Saints O-Line getting manhandled by the Colts DEs. Brees had very little time to actually get the ball off. It's the reason for at least one pick and the fumble. Reggie Bush looked like he was playing DDR out there. Deuce needed the ball more as well, run them out of that cover 2 and then play fake and go deep.
I think we'll regroup next week and head into the bye week 2-1. If anything is to go awry next week against Tampa, it's going to be another long year in the Big Easy.

I was impressed by the Colts D. They lost a crap load of starters in the off-season but still played at a high level.
As for the Saints, i dont see how people can pick them to go to the superbowl. Their defense has sucked for a long time and last year they played on pure emotion and whatnot- now their a regular team. I was rooting for the Saints and all but I dont expect them to go to the NFC title game again.

Well Bama you also have to think, why wasn't Jason Craft in the game? Craft isn't the best CB in the game but I believe he would have put a better performance together. Also, whats up with the CB with drafted U.Young. I didn't hear his name at all pre-season.
And Blaze, that Saints team you saw last night is nothing like the one they could be. The defense is better than what you saw. I think David should have had some help from the safeties after the first time he got burned. I know Roman would have been able to cover Wayne.
I think after a week of thinking about this game, the Saints will put on a for sure show next week.

Craft should have gotten in, but do you really want to rely on any of our corners? McKenzie is pretty good I guess, but past there we are in trouble in our defensive backfield.
The Saints should play better next week (well hell it'd be hard not to). I think we should have tried to challenge the Colts deep instead of that dump off passing game that got us no where. Sure keeping Peyton off the field sounds like a great idea, but with the Saints defense we have to score to win.
I still think this team wins the NFC South, probably ends up going 10-6 again. As long as we don't get the "same old Aints'" I'll be happy.

As bad as David was, at least he could put up some points... the Saints offense was trash last night...

That secondary will be a problem all season for New Orleans. Why would they draft Meachem first round instead of a cornerback? Jason David is not the answer, and we all know Fred Thomas isn't neither. It's not like Peyton had alot of time to sit back and pick them apart, either. Tony Ugoh was having issues with Will Smith throughout the whole game and Charles Grant made a few plays when given the opportunity.
Overall though, I just hope that was a horrible showing by the Saints offense rather than a great performance by the Colts D. The AFC is just so stacked, I'm just ready to see how the Ravens do Monday Night at Cincinnati.

The Eagles game had me pissed at the start. Stupid penalties and just dumb play. However, they started to pick it up towards the end of the half to tie it up at 10.

The end of the Eagles/Packers game was downright Lions-like for Philadelphia. I thought only a Lion could fall down while preparing to fair catch a punt. I feel for you. Sort of.

You know the Giants are gonna get whacked tonight, right? I heard plenty of people say that about the Packers. We'll see. The Cowboys have nothing.

This all comes down to special teams. Andy Reid cutting Jeremy Bloom was a downright stupid decision. This loss is on Andy Reid. Bad move going with J.R. Reed and his little experience returning punts over Brian Westbrook. Andy Reid should get a kick in the ass for letting this game go. EDIT: Well loki, looks like we will get to hear all of the Steelers fans proclaim that their team is easily Super Bowl bound.

How bout' that Jamal Lewis! What a pickup by the Browns! Steelers only looked good because they were playing a softy. I don't believe Pittsburgh is anything special this season, I am more worried about Cincinnati honestly. That though I will find out more of tomorrow night.
