One thing interesting to note are drafted rookies and their rookie scale contracts. Let's say the top five picks are locked up the following day, while the rest are unsigned into a "lockout" (offseason isn't really a lockout). If the scale changes, what the hell happens to 1-5?

They are basically screwed for the remainder of their rookie scale contracts, making less money than people who cant even match their skills and talents... And, the teams who got the first five are lucky that the change did not happen before |

David Stern is too smart (while I don't especially like him) of a commissioner to let a season go to waste, especially after seeing what has and is happening to the NHL. There may be a lockout, but I doubt any games will be missed.

The season will survive...Billy Hunter, I believe, has ticked off some union people with his racial comments. I don't think the union wants to back someone who says stuff like that.
