The Pistons break or match the 95-96 Bulls record? At first I thought they might break 70, but now after last nights lost, brings them to 6 on the season I have doubts.
Thoughts?

Gasp! One loss!
No, they won't do it, and they wouldn't have done it even if they had won last night. I don't even think they'll break 70. They're a great team, but I don't know if they can keep this up...
They'll win it all though, mark my words.

I'd laugh if they actually did win 70 and then lost in like the first round to Milwaukee or something. That would be high comedy.

The Pistons are a great team. I think they can do it, but you know it may come to a point where they will sort of slack off. That might begin when they start to lock things up. Get healthy for the playoffs.

The thing about basketball, though, is that you need to keep playing in order to stay sharp. You can't take a few weeks off and still remain sharp like you do if you're an NFL or MLB team getting ready for the playoffs.

Who says you can slack in football? Look at what happened to the Colts... I agree with that 100%. I was never for the idea of "resting players" when your the best team going into the playoffs.

Yep, every team from now on should just look at this years Colts and NOT SIT there players the last few weeks of the season. You lose to much rhythm, and looks what happens, you lose to the sixth seed.

You lose to much rhythm, and looks what happens, you lose to the sixth seed. While that looks nice in an argument, let's keep in mind that if the Steelers were playing in the NFC, they would've been the second seed in the NFC Playoffs. As for my NFL example, that was a bad thought by my own admission. I'm keeping my ground on the fact that you absolutely cannot under any circumstances rest players at the end of the season in basketball, at any level. Basketball players need to be feeling a rythym, and if they're not, then shots don't fall, you don't go hard for loose balls, and you don't rebound as well. You need to keep playing your starters, even if it is only for a half or three quarters.

not starting any crap at all because Detroit is a very good team, i take nothing away from them.....
For the last..... i'll say 9 or 10 years.... the spurs tend to coast through the first 40 or 50, and turn it on, usually the last 25 and ride it into the playoffs. Injuries or not turning it on have been their downfalls in the past.
What's scary, the spurs do their "rodeo roadtrip" in february when the rodeo comes to the SBC. I don't remember EXACT numbers, but I wanna say they went 20-3 on the roadtrip the last 2 years (11-1 and 9-2 I think) and then just burn through the rest of the season and into the playoffs. The February stretch typically dictates how the Spurs run the rest of their season. Their rodeo trip this year is only 8 or 9 games with a 6 day break in there, but they're already off to a 2-0 start.
Very simply, Pop bonds the team very well on these trips - only team bonded as well is the Pistons. Here's to hoping the spurs get it together again because while 35-10 or whatever, they've looked like pure crap this year.

I think they'll get 68 wins, but Robino is right, the Spurs always turn it on with 30 games or so to go. Looks like another Spurs-Pistons Finals IMO...
