Its not announced for 2 weeks, dont believe everything you hear. Yes, but they're usually right when they announce this. If you screw up on the MVP award, your newspaper loses quite a bit of credibility, and I'm sure they checked their facts.

In case you don't know this (hey, some of you might not, I would have never imagined DB thought the NBA reseeded) - reports like this come from a newspaper polling those who voted.... essentially, they know the writers who have a vote and ask for what they voted for, etc.... essentially trying to tally up their own numbers exactly like the NBA will do - and yeah, often these are fairly right, but two weeks in advance is really early to be doing this..... I would think if I were asked so early I would decline to give them my vote or lie to them....

(hey, some of you might not, I would have never imagined DB thought the NBA reseeded) I had a brief moment where I had it confused with the NHL...which I think reseeds...not sure Anyways, the source was Arizona Republic. Take that for what it's worth. ESPN jumped all over it, so I figure it must be somewhat credible.

no, i agree, it's more than likely credible... just seems to be REALLY early - I don't remember this ever coming out so early before...
and yes, the NHL does reseed

ESPN jumped all over it, so I figure it must be somewhat credible. Despite all the jokes about ESPN, when it comes to breaking news they're pretty credible (albeit pretty slow, too, but whatever). They don't let anything get on the air that hasn't been double or triple checked. General rule of thumb is that they won't report it unless they have 2 or more different sources confirming.

I think Kobe deserved it more, to be honest. Fourth-highest PPG total EVER and a playoff berth should pretty much wrap that up.

I think Kobe deserved it more, to be honest. Fourth-highest PPG total EVER and a playoff berth should pretty much wrap that up. I definitely respect his unbelievable scoring this season and a playoff berth is alright I guess, even if it is a low 7 seed. But Steve Nash took players just as crappy as the ones Kobe had, and made them a lot better, while putting up great numbers himself. It's tough to compare 2 players with such heavily contrasting styles (I don't even think it's as hard as doing a Kobe/Nash-Dirk/Brand comparison) but I think it went to the right person. And plus I admit I am a bit of a Kobe-hater, but I had a lot of respect for him this year, scoring-wise anyways...

I don't COMPLETELY buy into the notion that Steve Nash takes crap players and transforms them into solid ones. If Atlanta had Nash, Diaw and the rest of their players minus Joe Johnson, do you really think Diaw would have a career year? It's possible, but I highly doubt it. Phoenix's system allows for guys to flourish. If I remember correctly, Nash wasn't even close to being an MVP candidate in Dallas.

Steve Nash did exactly what he did last year, only better -- and that's without Amare Stoudemire this year. I think he was deserving of the MVP, but you could make an argument for Kobe or LeBron or Elton Brand, too.

Elton Brand also won the citizen award or whatever, and I believe Avery Johnson won coach. KG also won some community award...
