Anyone following this guy? I thought his 81 point show was the best thing i've seen in basketball but his performance as of late simply overrules that. In the past 3 games, he had 60, 50, 60 points( i think). Right now, as I write this, against the NOK hornets, he has 42 points as the third quarter is closing. Simply AMAZING!!!!
Call him selfish or a ball hog but he snapped the Lakers losing streak and now they are winning. This is what L.A. needs if they plan to contend in the playoffs.

Yea...really not impressive. He's scored about or more than half his team's points in each game and hardly won. Pass the ball jerkoff!

If he passed the ball, the Lakers probably wouldnt be on a winning streak. when a guy is in his groove, you have to feed him the ball. Remember, he's the centerpiece of Pil's triangle offense. It's all about the "W" for L.A. right now but im probably saying this cause im a Big Kobe/Laker supporter

How many people has he elbowed in the face and gotten away with it tonight, anyway?

There's a team for a reason. It's not supposed to a crappy one-man game...and hardly winning doesn't justify the ball-hogging. Maybe if he passed the ball...at least a few times, it'd inspire them to play some D and help out on the wins.

Well the team is really young still, what'd you expect. Kwame is a bust, Bynum is inconsistent, Smush has good and bad nights, and other than that the three guys the team is relying upon is Kobe, Walton, and Odom. This team needs to develope still so that Kobe doesnt have to carry so much of the load.

The non-historians of the game seemed to have gathered in this thread....the game used to be played a lot rougher than it is currently...you can tell just by watching the Bulls/Pistons series of the late 80s and early 90s to know that...Kobe wants to be able to play the game as he grew up watching it but that's not how the league is anymore..
as far as Kobe scoring 50+ points in four games straight...he and Wilt are the only to ever do so..and about the supposed ball-hogging, if he wasn't shooting as well as he has been it would be justified and about them barely winning, well unlike offense, it takes a team to play defense..either way there are W's on the board..this isn't college football where margin of victory is a factor in anything

Kobe wants to be able to play the game as he grew up watching it but that's not how the league is anymore.. So....because....let me get this straight, the league has changed and I'm a non-historian for telling Kobe he should stop elbowing people? Hello....I'm a Pistons fan. I think I might know just a little about their history. And it's quite simply. Kobe knows as well as anyone that the whole elbowing deal doesn't go down well nowadays. So stop doing it. It's pretty simple.

Ha, spartan and loki don't know jack about basketball. Nobody called MJ a ballhog when he was doing similar things, but because it's big bad Kobe, he's a ballhog. I don't consider myself a number guy, but to prove how ignorant you two are, allow me to pull out some stats here.
This year, Kobe is averaging 5.5 assists per game. In the nine games he's played this month, he's held true to that average with 5.6 assists per game, including three seperate games of 8+, in games which he had scored, 25, 30, and 40 (this is to show you that in games he actually passes, his point total doesn't fall off). In this 3 game string he had, his assists have fallen off to 3.3, but also it is a given that when you're teammates are scoring half what they normally do to ensure that Kobe's getting his shots, that's bound to happen. His field goal percentages have been astonishing, reaching 60% the first night (56% from 2 and 75% from 3), 49% the 2nd (50% from 2 and 45% from 3), and 54% in the 3rd (57% from 2 and 43% from 3).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a ball-hog one that rarely passes and shoots the ball, no matter how bad of a shot it is half the time? If so, Kobe may be the exact opposite of that. You say they "barely win these games", yet what you don't get through your thick skulls is that Kobe has a rather poor supporting cast outside of Odom. You look down that line and see guys like Smush Parker and Luke Walton. Those guys have role player printed all over them. Kobe HAS to put up huge numbers in order for his team to have a chance to win (by the way, Odom hasn't had his numbers destroyed from Kobe's shooting-- his scoring average has gone up in this latest run).
I can understand if you hate Kobe the person for rape, and I can understand if you think he's a cheap player for elbowing. But Spartan, isn't hypocritical that while you hate Kobe Bryant, calling him "gay, a ball hog, an elbower, and a rapist", when a favorite player of yours Alex Rodriguez is "gay, a choker, a karate-chopper, and a spoiled baby"...
Stop dishing the Kobe hate. He IS the best pure scorer in the game. He ain't MJ, but he's the closest thing we've ever seen, and there's no doubt that he can take over a game was well as MJ could. Oh and by the way, MJ averaged only 2 assists per game when he scored 50+...

McGahee, I don't give a **** about the NBA. Truthfully I could care less. I think the college game is so much better. I was being sarcastic when I made that post earlier anyway. Do I really care about Kobe Bryant or the NBA? No. Do I follow someone's stats in the NBA every freaking game? No. I just said that stuff about Kobe, because that's what I hear about him all the time. If I sat down and watched Kobe, I probably wouldn't mind, but I don't. You totally needed to post the stats though since I said he was such a bad player. Also, we are talking about Kobe. Do not switch this subject to A-Rod. When did I say he was my favorite player anyway?? I don't know jack about basketball. Guess I'm not the only one who goes into self defense mode on the board either.

What I find impressive is opposing teams cannot find a way to force him into passing the ball and not letting him go crazy on them.

I'm sorry, but the posts made by yourself and Loki seemed to retarded to be sarcastic to me, so I highlighted a bit of your idiocy. I'm sorry that I don't know that you are anti-NBA, because I would only assume one with no life would make posts on a board which they have no interest and post their opinion, but maybe I'm wrong.. I guess all I can say is, don't flood threads with poor sarcasm unless you enjoy being in "self-defense mode"...

I hate how whenever someone gets owned on this board they say they were being sarcastic or joking, because they pretty much always aren't joking.

One thing I love is when people say that. Sarcasm has a lot to do with tone which is hard to detect without hearing someone speak.
