None will win the World Series anyway, so does it really matter? That's a pretty bold prediction for May... I'm not saying your dead wrong and that anyone in the NL East is a lock, but the Mets very well could if they make a couple deals. And Zambrano isn't all that bad. His ERA isn't too far off from an average 3, and if he can stay healthy and get over 200 innings, I think he could easily get 12 or 13 wins next year...

Considering he's averaged 173 IP with a high of 188, 200 IP seems a bit out of the question if you ask me. I'm also not sure where you got his ERA from, as this season it is 6.75, and has never had a full season under 4. His K/9 has declined the past 3 years, he has a very high WHIP, he walks a lot of guys as well. Now that being said, I still think the Mets will win the division, but I can be sure that every single Met fan would rather have Scott Kazmir. As a Red Sox fan and having to face him often, I wish you guys had him too.

As a Red Sox fan and having to face him often, I wish you guys had him too. You can't really go by this year's ERA, seeing how he's had only 4 starts this year. His ERA has gone down every year since he's been in the league. If you compare him to say, Cory Lidle, who is pretty much a typical 3 on most teams, Zambrano has a better ERA and roughly the same strikeout numbers. Yeah he does walk a lot of hitters, but there's no question that he's cut down on that over the last 2 or 3 years. People have hit guys like Andy Pettite and Mike Mussina better in the ealry stages of their career, and they turned out to be fine pitchers. Of course they had better stuff, but especially compared to the other #3s in the NL East, he's no doubt the best. And I'm not denying that Scott Kazmir was a stupid deal. I don't know what they were thinking when they made that trade, except that they had no faith in prosepcts and thought Zambrano would allow them to win now, although that hasn't been closed to happening yet...
