The defense does need a lot of help for the Flyers. We have won some games since Biron has came and I can say it has pretty much been all Biron. The defense has sucked but Biron has bailed them out.

If you think you're hearing alot of Crosby now, imagine if they make a run in the playoffs..

I must commend Holmgren. He signed Biron to a two year contract extension. Smart move by Holmgren. It might have become a sticky situation if he let Biron hit the market.

Well, Nitty is a restricted free agent comes season end and Esche is unrestricted. He should have dealt Esche at the deadline. The only thing I thought was he kept Esche to let Nitty have the surgery he requires early instead of in the off-season, but that hasn't happened.

I'm almost 99% sure that an Esche deal just fell through or Holmgren got very minimal offers. I just don't think Holmgren can be stupid enough to not take anything for him...

Roberto Luongo might have the biggest nose in the history of the NHL. But his wife is hot, so I can't fault him.

NHL and NBC have agreed to extend their deal through the 08-09 season. Now, if only they'd play more than two games a week, two weeks a month, two months a year...

Slowly, but surely we're getting there. By the year 2190 we'll be on for 20 games a year with a major network.

There deal now sucks. It is a tease really. They say they are having a weekend game but not for four weeks. I hate just the tip.

If ESPN can get people to watch Arena Football and NASCAR, the NHL should really be trying to get them to give them another go...
All we hear is how the NHL is making so much money now, but is it really possible when there's at the maximum six televised national games a week (four of which coming from an unheard of station and two coming Sunday afternoons)? If ESPN has seriously ever made an offer, regardless of how much less it was than Versus, they needed to take it. Publicity would be so much higher...

That is so very right. If I were the NHL, I would sell my soul to get ESPN to pick up the league. The thing about ESPN is they control a lot of headlines. They have multiple analysts on all through the week to talk about the NFL, NBA, and MLB while they are in season. Imagine what they could do for the NHL.
Not only that, but the NHL is in a good spot right now. You have a team who is lining up to win a lot in the next few years in Pittsburgh. There is a lot of young talent throughout the league. The NHL brings the excitement of high scoring like the NBA does and the physical play like the NFL brings.

Things The NHL Has Scoring Fighting Checking Beer History AND TWINS
Also, there is not a huge problem like baseball, football, and basketball. Maybe that is what is holding the league back.

For those who are interested, i'm starting a sports site where i'll be giving my opinions on just about anything and everything that I have a decent knowledge on and for my first post, i'm planning on doing a running diary/blog for the first day of the playoffs. Check it out (ill post a thread later with the link)
