When I'm more composed I'll put my thoughts on the game together.

An overrated team, in the toughest group, and officials getting back at Bush caused this ending. I was hopeful, hell even excited about the US team, but eh I can't say I'm shocked. Landon Donovan was never involved. He's suppose to be one of our top guys, but when it counted, I never saw the guy.
The future is bright for the United States. We're having more young guys playing soccer. Hopefully we can get more talent and more guys playing their club ball in Europe or better yet Spain and England (two top leagues in the world). More people are interested in the states now too. The south isn't known for caring about it, but I know a lot of people who are really into it. Hell a very good friend, who has never cared a bit about the sport, went out and bought Winning Eleven 9 just because of how much he was enjoying the World Cup.
In the short term though, I'll be behind England, Ghana, and Holland. I've lived in England, so they'll be my "USA" until they get beat. ;D

I'm very, very disappointed in this year's team. While I supported and followed the 2002 Cup, I barely watched any games thanks to it being in Korea/Japan. This one I've been watching a ton, keeping a close eye on everything. I was really hopeful that the U.S. would pull out a great performance. They had a tough group, but a lot of things went wrong too. I'm hoping to still enjoy the cup, rooting for England and the Netherlands....better luck in 2010 United States! Hopefully this will bring more soccer interest to the US.....I want to get some Premiership games and La Liga on local TV.

Wow...I am terribly, terribly sorry about the delay. I definately lose 2 points for this morning...but here are my afternoon picks. I was up until 5:00 AM last night and I meant to do this, and then fell asleep. I'm posting the rest in a sec, but just in case I don't get 'em in before 3:00 EST, here are my picks:
Australia over Croatia Brazil over Japan

I didn't edit my last post to ensure that no cheating was going down...but I'm going out for a run, and I'll do this when I come back. 2-3 hours, I'll have both today's and tomorrow's picks.

i went 2-2 again so unless sep went 3-1, or bama or DB went perfect it looks like me ans irck are still tied heading into the final day of group play.

jx: Can you post an example of the format you'd like for the knockout stages? I've got to send in all my picks now, as I leave on Monday.

As for the bracket, this is due at the conclusion of the first round. I haven't really posted instructions for the bracket...but here they are now. When I say "1A" it means 1st place in the A group...just as "2H" means 2nd in the H group.
1. 1A vs. 2B 2. 1C vs. 2D 3. 1B vs. 2A 4. 1D vs. 2C 5. 1E vs. 2F 6. 1G vs 2H 7. 1F vs. 2E 8 1H vs. 2G
9. Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner 10. G3 winner vs. G4 winner 11. G5 winner vs. G6 winner 12. G7 winner vs. G8 winner
13. G9 winner vs. G10 winner 14. G11 winner vs. G12 winner
15. Bronze Medal game - G13 loser vs. G14 loser
16. Gold Medal game - G13 winner vs. G14 winner
So please, get this in prior to Saturday morning if you haven't done so already!!! I'll post a list of those who haven't sometime tonight if you want...but you should know if you havn't.

Do we just pick the games like in the group stage, or do we have to use our picks to win the group stage to fill out the bracket?
The latter would suck for me with how Group E turned out.

A more important question: Can you change your picks for winner, and such? Because if not, I'm out. I picked the Czech Republic.

A more important question: Can you change your picks for winner, and such? Because if not, I'm out. I picked the Czech Republic. Sorry I haven't been more clear on this. You MUST use your group picks that you originally selcted. (Even if Group E screwed you...) You may, however, fix up your bracket up until Saturday morning. Your group picks are all on the first page of this beastly thread. So yes, Usma, feel free to change the Czechs as your champ, cause that probably won't happen. In fact, most of you should change, cause y'all picked the US to win! I had them going to the round of 8...but I'll be changing that up pronto. Once Saturday starts, no more changing of the bracket. The points system is outlined on page 1 as well. Hope this clears most things up!

So we're allowed to swap our 1 and 2 picks, but not swap them for our 3 and 4?
