Im pissed as well, that ref was the worst in the world, superbowl like refs IMO. If only Beasley goal counted, i would have been partying on the streets, and cursing down all the brits.

There were some shananigans goin on with the red card(s). Awful game on the ref's end. U.S. gets lucky and pulls out the tie.
In the words of Jim Rome: "Ghana, amazing, rack 'em."

Players win games, coaches lose games, and refs ruin games.

Rather amusing that the US has a fair shot at making it to the next round....just need Italy to beat the Czechs, and they've gotta beat Ghana.
It's gonna be weird going from hating Italy an hour ago to pulling for them.

I'll take the 1-2 day to see the US not lose.

The referee was under investigation by FIFA after the 1998 World Cup, and was suspended by his own federation for the 2002 World Cup, after other referees reported "irregularities".
During the 2001/02 international season, he handed out 24 yellow cards and seven red cards, in only seven games.

Yeah I read that.
Now I have to root for those flop artist from Italy if the US can beat Ghana. All it gets us is Brazil, but why not at least make it to the final 16.

If it's the same Brazil that played against Croatia, I'd fancy our chances.

I will be honest and say I have not watched a second of the World Cup....I can not stand to watch guy kicking a ball around for 90 minutes.....that is a personal opinion, I bet most of you can't see why I can watch guys put a ball in a hoop for 2 hours and what not, but I just wanted to state that I haven't watched the World Cup yet It isn't our problem that you can't appreciate the most passionate sport on the planet.

My picks: USA beats Ghana 2-1 Italy beats Czech Republic 3-2 See, the problem with that is that the US would advance. And they would advance too easily. I say Italy ties the Czechies, the USA beats Ghana by one, and Italy and the Czechies advance. US soccer never regains its composure again and becomes the perennial loser it once was.

So you think the Czechs will play for the tie with Brazil on the other end? That game will produce a result IMO, and it will be Italy winning. They are IMO the best team in the group and the Czechs are a little up in age.
The US/Ghana game ought to be interesting. I like the US with the players from Ghana who will be sitting due to 2 yellow cards.
Finally why the US hate Usma? You don't like the United States and want them to be a lower class country at soccer. That does not make sense my good man.

Cause he likes the army! Army men don't have time for soccer games!
And I JUST got back from a long, long, long baseball filled day where I pitched absolutely atrociously so I am not in the mood to post games/leaderboard updates tonight. I have given Rim Touching permission to update the leaderboard whenever he sees fit (it's not that hard of a job...trust me).
As for tomorrow's games, well, it's going to be DC World Cup Pick 'em Game Mystery Day! Yay! The rules: nobody knows who picked who and then I reveal the mystical truth at 5:00ish. Sound like a great game? I figured as much...sorry for all this, I'm damn pooched right now. Good luck to all for tomorrow's games.
And congrats to all you American fans out there. As mad as you are about officiating (I actually missed the game), you do realize that this is a massive win for your program, even if it's just a draw, right?

Americans only care if we win the World Cup.
I'll stick to my MLS, thank you very much.

I'll stick to my MLS, thank you very much. How you can watch that with the English Premiership and La Liga out there I'll never understand. Go Newcastle United! Soccer is a growing sport in America, so any little bit helps Usma. Our best athletes are playing football and basketball while the rest of the world's best athletes are playing soccer. So doing what we are doing is fantastic. I just wish more of our top athletes got into the beautiful game.
