First Job

Well I'm 16 and football season is almost over, so I want to go get a job. A new Best Buy opened up down the road and I want to go apply there. One of the first things on the application was prior work experience, and I have no 'official' work experience. I've volunteered places but not actually had a job. I was just wondering when did most people around here get a job, where'd they work, and all that other good stuff.

started at 15 sacking groceries then when i turned 16 i quit that job and went on to another store where they gave me a job in the meat department. Prolly the most laid back job ever my boss is hella partier and only like 26 and most of the time aint there so I basically just sit back there and cook stuff when i want something to eat.

However I actually do some hard work when needed.

I've applied at about 6 different places in the last 2 weeks. I dont think I'm going to get any of them cause I didn't have anything to fill in the "past work experience" part.

I think I might have to settle for fast food to get started.

Worked a little bit this summer, then decided I don't really care about making money, want to enjoy the spare time that I have.

I worked at the food court in the mall over the summer. Pretty sweet gig, meet a lot of cool people and free food whenever I want, even if I just show up randomly off the clock.

I worked at a real nice golf course and that was an awesome job. I got paid 7 an hour plus tips for cleaning peoples clubs and taking care of their bags and stuff. Basically you can sit there and do nothing because nobody cares and earn 7 bucks an hour or you can work your tail of and earn 20 extra bucks every hour. It's all how you feel that day.

I also had one of the best little gigs ever. I have a friend that works a a jewelry store and this jeweler was having a huge party on a friday night so me and a couple of other guys were asked to do valet parking. I got to drive about 10 caddys, a couple of beamers, 2 brand new lexus', a porshe, and a crappy old chevy truck. All in all I earned 85 dollars for 3 hours of work, that's after tips and a 8/hour rate. Plus I got to drive some NICE cars.

Currently I am unemployed and go to school.

I wouldn't put too much into getting a job at Best Buy. It might help that its new, but Best Buy is pretty tough to get in. I have about 20 friends try at the Best Buy near my house, and none have gotten the job.

But my first job was at University of Texas-Arlington Library. 8 AM-5 PM job Monday-Friday summer job. Pretty sweet since I got about 244 dollars a week, and had my weekends open.

My first job and still current job is in a construction trade installing fire protection sprinkler pipes. Pays really good and I have been doing it for almost a year now. I worked full-time for 6 months, but I am now currently part-time and trying to begin community college.

I once knew a kid who thought a blow job could be given to a guy or girl. He was 16 at the time. He thought, yeah, whole thing I am not going to get in to.
