well he got busted by the cops at 1 AM this morning. It's a long story but you all should learn something from it.
I went to the bathroom around 1 AM and when I headed back to my room, I saw four cops in the hall with two student resident hall advisors. I went to my room, closed the door, looked out the peep hole and saw one of the cops knock on the door of my neighbors room.
When the door opened, he was like "I smell weed. You all have any weed hiding in here?" The people in the room (6 at the time) were like "no, no" so just when it looked like the cops gave up on their quest to find why the hall smelled like weed, one of the RAs said "try room 114" which was my room.
So the cop knocked on the door and I knew I was fucked. In my room were two beer cans, an ash tray with fresh ash in it, a dutch on m roommates desk, and some medical pills. I opened the door and the cop was like "I know there's weed in here. Were you smoking? Tell me where the weed is. Oh look, two beer cans."
He said all of this while searching through the room and he continued to grill the shit out of me. I kept proclaiming my innoncence because I dont smoke. He asked me for my roommates name, my ID, and my info and within three minutes, they brought in my roommate and three of his friends who were roaming outside......aparently, two guys from that group tried to run from the cops and got caught.
At this point, I was scared. I didnt want to be kicked out of school, housing, lose my scholarship, and hear them tell my parents I am a key figure in a drug bust- the second bust in the past two weeks in the freshman housing area and the same dorm building.
After an hour of waiting outside my room (they left me alone but grilled my roommates friends) my roommate came out in cuffs, looking disappointed, and said "I'm sorry dude."
They would end up finding all of his drugs and took him to prison. He was the only one to go to jail but one other dude, who wasnt involved in this case, got caught outside after the cops saw him smoking a blunt. He got a court date but wasnt arrested.
Before they left, they told me I had to clean up the room and get rid of any traces of weed. And our room was a jungle. One of the officers pulled me to the side and told me some things and how I was ok, wouldnt be charged with anything, and just had to speak to the housing director the next morning. I was shaking and nearly in tears at this point because I had so much on my mind and I knew I would never see my roommate again.
I still feel like shit and am praying I get off. But still, I never been in a situation like this and the whole thing was freightening. Now, the whole dorm is comforting me and standing by my side because I am in limbo right now. But I knew it would happen sooner or later.
