Just got a stupid citation

hey guys, for the first time in a long time i don't have a relationship problem i'm bringin to yall

anyway, just thought i'd share a story about this gay citation i got earlier tonight

me and my girlfriend decided to go running up the Sawnee Mountain here in GA, i hate running, but figured i'd do something she'd wanna do

i'm badly out of shape, but i don't look like it (kinda skinny, just little to no muscle at all, can't run 100 yards without panting) and we decided to run about 1/3 of the 2 mile hike it takes to get up the mountain and walk the rest of the way to the top, this was at dusk so we could see the sunset and stuff

we stopped at the top so i could rest, did a little "smooching" and then decided to walk the rest of the way down when it got dark

we got to the bottom when it was very dark and decided to chill at this mini-playground type area, and did a little more "smooching" when this dude shines a flashlight in our eyes asking "What are you kids doin here?"

oh f*ck, the cops

we're both a couple of goody goodies, never gotten in any serious trouble in our lives, so the cop asks what we were doing, and i explained the truth to him, the cop goes "I don't buy it! You're lying to me I know it!"

it turns out, the park we ran at (it's a full on park at the mountain) closes at dark, and neither of us knew that, i had never been there before and she had run there with her dad a few times

so, the guy wrote us a citation for trespassing on government property after hours (at f*cking 6:30 at night, it wasn't like it was midnight or anything)

basically i hate the fact that this cop thinks we were just there to make out, when, although we were when he caught us, that's not what we were there for, and he refuses to believe the truth

anyway, just had to rant, and also am wondering if you guys have had any lame citations or tickets or whatever for almost no reason

I'd go ahead and try to appeal that to the department in question, if thats possible. That's what my dad's department does with all citations, regarding there is reasoning behind the appeal.

i'm not sure how much, it's just a piece of paper with a phone number on it and a court date, my parents said to just call the number of the court and try to pay the citation without having to go to court, just for the convenience of it

and sportsbuck, how exactly could i appeal it? i mean the cop caught us "mid-kiss" so, what exactly would my defense be?

Well you got accused of tresspassing after hours. So, go to the park and see if there are signs clearing showing the Parks hours. If there isn't, then go on a rant about that and they'll let you off. If there is, say that they need to be posted more clearly and they might change it to a warning.

Another question. Was the cop rude, or vulgar to you in any way? Because if he is, tell that department that. But don't lie about though, because they have tape recorders on police officers' uniforms.

well, there are no signs, it's just like an "understood" thing, the cop told us "Yall know the park closes at dark, right?" so, "dark" could be any time really, and it was before 7 PM when we got caught, not like midnight

and i don't think he was rude, cuz the only thing the cop said that could be considered rude was "I ain't buying it!" when i told him the truth, and was like "Yall make out up here?" which i answered in the affirmative, and said "That's the first honest thing you've said all night!" and as we were leaving he said "Can't yall find a better place to make out?"

so, if that's considered "rude" then yes he was, otherwise, he was just bein a normal cop in the south

thats what Id do. Probably like 200 bucks or something, just an annoyance. Take it as a lesson to not make whoopie on government property.

haha, yeah, the funny thing is, we really were just talking for awhile, and just happened to kiss when he shined his light on us, so his assumption was that that's all we were there to do

my parents don't really think it'll even be 200, cuz i got a citation for a wreck one time for "driving a damaged vehicle" (wtf?) and it was 200, this was just after hours at 6:45 at night, not even like midnight, so i'm betting less than a C-note, but if it's more, i'll only take it as us getting boned by Barney and Andy

That is lame. It can't be too much. I'd say maybe $50. But how can he say it closes at dark. That's not a good time. Because had this been the summer, it still would've been light out at 6:30, so.....

Well if there aren't any posted signs I'd reccomend telling the department that and if you end up going to court I'd reccomend using that to your advantage because you weren't made notice of when the park closed.

just a bit of an update here guys, i'm gonna call the courthouse in a couple of days to see if i can just pay the fine without going to court, and if so i'll probably just go ahead and pay it, unless it's like outragous (anything over $200)

and what's gay is, my girlfriend's parents have grounded her from me indefinitely because of this, so one incident and she and i are basically broken up now

kinda funny how the first problem i bring to you guys that's not a relationship problem ends up becoming a relationship problem

interestingly enough, their big reason for doing this is that "our daughter has never gotten into trouble in her life until now, and it just so happens it's with you"

so, they believe i'm turning their daughter into a trouble maker, after just one incident in which we really weren't doing anything that bad

Yeah, things must be way different down south. I was caught by a cop at midnight about two years ago at a park with a girl during midnight and was asked my information, and then told to leave. And we wasn't just making out, he flashed his lights on us with her head in my lap...

They did have to produce her so I doubt they are gay, just really strict.
