Have that guy that thinks he knows everything there is to know about sports? You know, the guy that thinks that he is right about everything regardless of whether or not you bring up rational, factual information to support your angle, and that information also destroys the credibility of his?
I know a guy like that. My group of friends and I like to hang and watch sports a lot of times, and this dude tags along every once in a while.
This is what he has told me so far this year..
- Mike Hart is the perfect fullback. When I told him that Hart is only 5'9 and 190 pounds which makes him WAY too small to play fullback, he insisted that since he wears big shoulder pads that makes him big enough to play fullback. - Mike Vick has the arm and decision making ability of Peyton Manning. I honestly rolled on the floor laughing, and didn't respond, it would've been way too easy. - Stanford would've won the SEC. His reasoning was that since they beat USC, which beat Cal, which beat Tennessee, that meant that they would've won the SEC east and made it to the conference championship game, and would've upset LSU becasue of the upset factor. I merely pointed out that the transitive property is useful, but doesn't apply to sports at all. - The Atlanta Braves are the greatest baseball team ever. All I did was ask him how many championships they had won, then how many the Yankees had won. - Last but not least, the funniest. He said that Mount Union should play in the Big Ten because of all of the games they've won and how they are in Ohio. I didn't even touch this one, too damn funny.
Anybody else know people like this?

My friend is a Red Wings fan and a Minnesota Twins fan and a notorious Tigers hater. When I asked him what he thought about the Willis/Cabrera trade, he told me "The Tigers are a large market team now. Only small market teams play with heart." I asked him if the obviously large-market Red Wings played with heart. He never answered me.

I really don't give a shit about sports anymore. I still care about my favorite teams, but outside of them nothing. I usually refrain from much sports talk outside of the internet anymore. Music on the other hand can be a huge pain in the ass with people like you've described.

Unless a band I especially loathe gets brought up, I stay out of anything, and I've never been one to force my recs on my friends, though a lot of them ask me to find things they'd like. I get humbled by the band kids often seeing as they know a ton, so I'm really not too bad. Just when it comes to indie rock, post-rock, post-metal, folk rock, and most "scene" music, I can be a bit of a dick about my opinions.

I have a friend like that also, its really annoying lol we basically tell him straight up to shut up. He claimed that Damon Huard could be the best NFL QB once.
My friends however are bewildered by the fact that I hate sports stars theat usually are not hated.
For Example. -I cant stand Brett Favre I have a passion of hate for him. -I'm in the middle with LT, that helmet he has makes me hate him but his TD dances are tight lol. -I cant stand Randy Moss, just hate him. -I hate Tom Brady and the whole Patriots football team except for Wes Welker -I hate Peyton Manning. -I hate Marvin Harrison, like really just hate him. -I love Chris Henry lol, thats my boy. -I wish Dirk Nowitzki would kill himself. -Steve Nash is gay -Even though Chad Johnson is my favorite NFL player, I really think TJ Houshmoundzadeh is equal skill wise with him.

-I hate Marvin Harrison, like really just hate him. -I love Chris Henry lol, thats my boy. So it looks like you hate the guys that keep their mouth shut (Peyton, Brady, L.T, Farve and Harrison) and do the talking with their game, which is very damn good. Then you like the guys that run their mouth like chumps and get in trouble with the law (Chris Henry and Johnson), Johnson showed you how much he sucks...does all that smack talking but when the game was on the line last night he blew it. He sucks. Then, Henry gets in trouble every other week. You have very nice role models if I may say so myself.

IIRC, Johnson has never been in trouble with the law. But he needs to learn how to catch a damn ball, he dropped two last night that would've given us a win.

I was referring to Henry with that statement.
What the hell is IIRC?

I have a friend who think he knows everything but he doesn't know sports, so I have fun fucking around with him.
I be like, 'Wow did you watch the game last night? WR Charles Woodson has 3 TD receptions, he put in hella work." Or I say: "Chris Henry is the best DB in the Bengals secondary.", and he always is like yeah, I remember that one-handed INT that he made last night.
lol it's fun punking him.
