I will say about Ron Paul what I have been saying about him since his rise in popularity.
The reason he and Huckabee have done well is the same way Dean did well in '04. With very blatant statements about issues that didn't garner attention from the major candidates until later on in the process. He is too radical in his beliefs, outside of being anti-war, to ever gain the nomination of a major party. But his grassroots financial gain, as well as his ability to point out the flaws on the republican side have gained him some support and decent media coverage.
I see him fading out after New Hampshire, dropping after Super Tuesday, but staying outspoken and talking about major campaign developments. Then simply running as the Libertarian Party's candidate. He has the money and enough name recognition to make a third party splash similar to Nader or Perot, just enought to hopefully sway republican voters in swing states, similar to Nader and his effect on Gore.

I say screw it.
Are write-in candidates allowed? If so, Steven Colbert is getting my vote.

I agree in part Maize. Ron Paul has hit a nerve with young people, and his statements/internet campaign back that up. Young people are generally the people most effected by war, because soldiers are generally young people and what not. So his anti-war stance works with that. You're right though, he's pretty much going to end up being the Libertarian party's guy. Being a libertarian, I will never vote for that shitty party.
Huckabee is much more dangerous. He's running as the uber right wing Christian candidate. He's going to make a huge impact in any southern/traditionally conservative Christian areas. Then again, I'd probably vote for a Hillary/Saddam ticket over Huckabee.

You're right Bama about Huckabee, I simply tried to clump the two together in perspective of the whole political spectrum.
Huckabee scares me, I watched him on Meet the Press, and he is very smooth in his answers, he has a Clinton feel plus a religious pull and no connection to Washington. I think he has a better chance to win the presidency over Romney, who has the better shot at the nomination because of the look and money....

He's playing to the Republican base who play indentity politics. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh driving home to Baton Rouge the other day (traffic sucked and he's on the station that tells you what is going on) and some preacher called in and talk about Huckabee as a savior type. Of course Limbaugh doesn't like Huckabee so he went on this spill about the identity politics that I mentioned. He's playing the "backlash" persecuted Christian crowd like a fiddle. The scary thing is, it could work.

Mike is taking back America for Christ and I am very glad he's doing so, good for that man, hoping he can really work on getting rid of the homosexual, and start arresting some doctors for abortions, it's a new day in America ladies and gentlemen.
Love Mitt too! I think there is nothing more American than lying constantly, and having the money to get away with doing so. He's a true leader, through and through, and I can't wait for how he'll surprise us when he gets in the White House with the great stories he'll have to share that he crafted at bedtime.
Of course though we know that Guiliani really is going to take it, I mean, that guy was in the Trade Center saving people! He was on the streets, helping Americans who had been attacked. Some say that he should've never put his disaster office in the biggest terrorist target, but I think there wrong. The place where things really get done is the streets! That's where the media is to capture some great photos! I met Rudy in the restroom at the Virgin Records store in downtown NYC in 2002. Sure, there was a really long line and he cut everyone, but I think that's very symbolic of his campaign; he shouldn't be the one in front, but hey, he got there, and now it's time for him to take a piss.
The Republicans are so lucky to have such great options at their disposal.
