Did the terrorists not do it for a reason? Maybe they felt sending America this message will save lives for their people. The nuclear bombs killed innocent people and created tension we still feel to this day. It seems that we can push forms of evil on people and it is fine but when it happens to us, it is a tragedy. Japan brought the US into the war in the first place.

Violence is only justified when the opressed act out against their oppressors.

Are you saying defending our nation after an attack on thousands was wrong?

Perhaps the United States policing the world is part of the reason the terrorists felt the need to attack our innocent citizens. I feel the terrorists were totally wrong in what they did. However, before we cry out about this tragedy, we have to look at our own faults. As citizens, did the victims on September 11th do anything to warrant being murdered? No. I think you can make the comparison to that of the innocent who died in Japan when we dropped not just one, but two nuclear bombs. The innocent shouldn't be punished for the actions of their government.
In the end, both the United States and terrorists had reasons in committing their actions. Whether these were morally correct actions is debatable. However, saying we don't deserve anything negative that happens to us is bold when we have been far from saints in this world. To reference a point made by Martin Luther King Jr., our government is one of the greatest purveyors of violence in the world.

I understand that completely and agree, but Keeper's statement is what has me on edge now. If we have been attacked like we were in Pearl Harbor and on 9/11 (though that was much harder to pinpoint an attacker), we're not supposed to do anything? Also, we've been pretty apologetic in the past for what we did to those in Japan and it has been stated quite a bit that those nukes were the biggest mistake our nation has ever made. At the same time, we, the people, didn't really get a say in whether or not to do that but I'm sure the Japanese people, at least a good bit of them, were down for attacking us just because they could.

So you are suggesting that the United States citizens didn't want the bombs to be dropped but Japanese citizens would have attacked us in an instant?
Might I add, the Japanese people were the ones under control of an emperor. This emperor was in total control. They didn't get to choose their leader.

I'm saying I don't believe there is a fundamental difference in the violence that occurred on September 11, 2001 and the violence that has occurred in Iraq. The invasion of Iraq was a terrorist attack in the same way that 9/11 was.
