Am I the only one who thinks the Chili Peppers don't belong? Don't get me wrong, they are an awesome band. I just think they have been doing the same album for a while. All of the members are awesome at what they do, but it seems to be repetitive. I think John Frusciante deserves a nod, and maybe Anthony Keidas. Let's be honest, the dude is a pretty good front man.
Also, I don't think the Foo Fighters belong on that list. I am a huge fan of the band, but the only one worthy to be on the list is Dave Grohl. When they have a hit, it is pretty good. Foo Fighters and The Colour and the Shape were good. There is Nothing Left to Lose was mellow but very enjoyable. Although, they have some disasters. In Your Honor and One By One are overall bad except for a few songs. The new album is a pretty solid effort in my opinion. The thing is, what have they done to set themselves far apart from others of the times?
I am not all that keen on Nirvana but do think they should be on the list because of the 'impact' they had made. They tried something sort of different and it worked out for them. Even if it didn't, they would have still done it. That is one of things I think helps them on the list.
Guns N' Roses I will not vote for at all. I think Slash is one great guitarist, but Axl Rose is just King Douchebag to me. I would easily vote for Slash if he was a lone nomination. The man knows the guitar.
Rage Against the Machine was a good one. They are a fusion of many different sounds and actually have meaning behind their songs. We can't say that about many of the artists in this day and age. Not only that, but Tom Morello is one awesome guitarist.
Overall, I think this tournament is an assortment of the greats, mediocre, and downright bad. Like Keeper said though, the greats should prevail easily. It should be interesting to see who prevails in the end.

I think good bands will lose to bands that are falsely credited with innovation, or bands that are just simply more popular. I don't expect people here to vote for Coltrane, even if "A Love Supreme" is probably one of the top 10 records of all time.

see Freak I thought In Your Honor was there best maybe it's just me but I loved the Electric/Acoustic 2-disc set plus I loved almost every song on that album. Also I thought that way about RHCP until Stadium Arcadium, that album was so diverse in sounds it really was one of the greatest albums of all-time in my opinion

Like Keeper said though, the greats should prevail easily. It should be interesting to see who prevails in the end. I think that the Peppers not only had popularity but were a defining band of the mid 90s. GNR was also a defining band of the 90's, albeit for not all that long. Yes, Axl is a douchebag. But they were a memorable band and deserve to be there. Your argument on the Foo is agreeable and that's why I really didn't nominate them. Nirvana not being on there would be a travesty. Their overall impact is still felt today. That's the idea behind this tourney. Overall, I agree or cannot argue with most on this list. Pretty sollid list; far better than the last one.

If In Your Honor was one disc, that would have been a great album. The electric disc just seems to be full of filler material. To me it seems as if they did the acoustic side and just got tired while doing the electric. Out of the ten on the electric, there are three, maybe four, that I can bear listening to. I thought the acoustic disc was much better. Although not all of the songs were great, the band experimenting in that aspect was very cool. Seeing Taylor Hawkins sing on a track and Grohl working with Norah Jones was very awesome. It seems like thought and effort went into these songs as opposed to the electric where they were just loud and screaming to get by, which was just lame. Also, I saw Keeper mentioned Crass. There are some bands that mentioned Anarchy, but those guys were ones who truly pushed it.

I have to seed all these. Coltrane should get a decent draw. I don't think that was true, because there were only a few people I would have voted for over him. Marley, considering he brought Reggie into the mainstream and still holds much cultural significance, has a bigger place in music history. Even if he's one of my favorite artists of all time, Marley has done more IMO. Oh and anyone notice the abortion of an ad at the top of the page. Who would you rather see in concert gentlemen, Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers?
