SMU no more.
After a major penalty to a college football powerhouse you would think that Southern Methodist University, SMU, would learn from their mistakes, but obviously not.
From 1980 to 1986 the SMU Mustangs had a remarkable, 52-19-1 record which included an undefeated season in 1982. Ever since their fallout the team has went 57-142-3 only consisting of one winning season. Not only have the Mustangs embarrassed themselves but also they also embarrassed and dismantled the Southwestern Conference and its old prestigious reputation.
“This not only embarrasses our student body and our university, but it also has made us loose our trust in our football program,” AD Steve Orsini stated, “I hereby announce that Southern Methodist University will abandon it’s spot in Division I college football.”
With this note SMU will hand over their spot and a new team will take up their place. The front-runners for the spot are Appalachian State, and Grambling State. More details on this investigation will be reported as soon as possible.
