COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT - WEEK 9 Race for the Heisman #1 - Rex Grossman - QB, Florida 2,996 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 6 interceptions
#2 - Bruce Perry - HB, Maryland 802 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns, 0 fumbles
#3 - Jason Gesser - QB, Washington State 2,212 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

#5 - Bryan Peterson - WR, NC State 918 receiving yards, 9 touchdowns, 2 dropped passes
Bowl Rankings - Top 5 #1 - Florida (7-0; 4-0 vs. SEC) After destroying Miami(FL) 48-7 in the second week of the season, Florida has been ranked #1 ever since. They have the best resume of the top-5 teams, with quality wins over #8 Tennessee and #16 Ole Miss as well as the victory over the Hurricanes. Their toughest games remaining on their regular-season schedule have to be against #11 South Carolina and Florida State, a talented team that has struggled to a 3-4 record thus far.
#2 - Nebraska (7-0; 2-0 vs. Big 12) With Ohio State nipping at their heels in the BCS Rankings, Nebraska cannot afford to lose. Aside from blanking #25 Penn State 21-0 a few weeks ago, the Cornhuskers haven't played anyone of note. A showdown against #5 Texas looms next month, and their final game of the season is against Big 12 (North) rival #15 Colorado, a game that could decide who goes to the Big 12 Championship game.
#3 - Ohio State (7-0; 2-0 vs. Big Ten) Ohio State survived a close encounter with #14 Washington State 25-24 earlier in the season, and have only allowed an average of five points per game since their defeat of the Cougars. With a rushing offense ranked second in the nation and a defense which has already posted two shutouts this season, Ohio State could presumably run the table, if they don't get tripped up by Penn State or Michigan, the only tough opponents remaining on their schedule.
#4 - Miami(FL) (5-1; 2-0 vs. Big East) After getting pasted by Florida, a chance at a National Championship may have already slipped through their fingers. Their schedule is not forgiving, as they still have six games to play, two of which (at Tennessee and versus #13 Virginia Tech) will be difficult to win.
#5 - Texas (5-0; 2-0 vs. Big 12) With Chris Simms (QB) out for five weeks with a strained back, their running game (ranked 84th) must improve if they are to capture the Big 12 Championship.
