Nobody at VT thought it was going to happen to them either. THe point is, you can never be sure. Well worrying about it wouldn't have changed shit for them either. The point is you can't waste time worrying about things that you really have NO control over. Wasting as much time as it takes to post about something non-sensical in off topic? |

However, when you live in a major city like Miami where people are robbed, beaten, and killed every day it makes you wonder what you would do. Yes, people are killed all over the world...but if you saw the stuff that goes on down here, you would be amazed. All these races (White, Black, Hispanic, Italian, Asians, etc.) don't mix very well and tempers flare and people get killed. Saying it won't happen to you is ridiculous. You know thought they can't get aids, that got it? It can happen to anyone. |

You know how messed up it is when a pretty good representation of the young society today all say they think about this kinda thing? The generations before us didn't have anything like that to worry about this seriously. The Cold War with Russia was pretty serious but it doesn't seem like people were to distraught about it after awhile. Thats so true. The generations before us were the good times (so I hear from co-workers, parents, and older friends). Maybe it's the influences in todays America? Most rappers are rapping about selling drugs and killing people and these kids believe it so they feel they need to do it because their idol said they did it. But, when it comes down to it, that rapper is sitting in his house pronouncing all his words correctly and eating a nice steak while the butler cleans his room. </rant> We always have nostalgia for the "good ole days" but I honestly don't think they were all that much better. The 60s and 70s? They had Vietnam and Russia to worry about. The 40s? WWII Every generation has had their issues. I'm not a huge fan of my generation. Self centered, pussies for the most part (I am guilty of it too) but things really aren't that bad. I don't go to school in fear of getting shot. I don't worry about a terrorist blowing himself up when I go to the mall. My worries are not life and death. Not to mention most people have enough money to live without having to worry about where the next meal is coming from. Things are good right now. Not great and probably going to get worse from here, but right now I think things are pretty good. Oh and rap that talks about drug dealing and killing people, makes me sick. |

How can something be arrogant, when African-Americans, blacks from the hood, say it themselves? They say it in their songs, they say it in interviews, all the time. It's truly what they believe. Obviously there are the ones who persevere and strive for something better the right way, but many, and I mean many, choose the bad path and no matter which way they go, they push their tough lives on other people and so people follow them. There are hundreds and hundreds who moved here from NYC and even though they have bigger houses, nicer cars, blah blah blah, they still think they need to sell drugs, claim to be in gangs or else they're pussies, get into fights, and talk about how hard their life is when it's not and when they don't need to act the way they do. This isn't the hood and when you're living here and have been for as long as I have, you don't really know what the hood is so don't act like it.. |
