Triple Crown killer Edgar Prado is riding Casino Drive.

Big Brown starts from the rail too. Not ideal.
I wonder if Clayton will be around to help handicap this race. I figure, like everyone else, Big Brown and Casino Drive finish one and two.

I throw in another name, Denis of Cork. Could be the spoiler tomorrow too. I hope Big Brown wins though, because I want to see a triple crown happen.

Denis of Cork and Casino Drive seem to be the two playing given the title of 'giant killer' so far. Casino Drive has a bruised hoof, so that might effect him a bit.
I think Guadalcanal could hurt BB's chances out of the gates, and I like Anak Nakal's chances, after a decent finish at the Derby.

The only horse race I ever watch is the Belmont, and I always get the same result.

The only horse race I ever watch is the Belmont, and I always get the same result. I generally follow the Breeder's Cup and the triple crown races. I hate the Belmont. I'm more excited about this race than any other, and always I end the day bummed out.

Sorry guys I couldn't post anything. I've been to New Jersey and back to Florida 2 times this week. I never expected Big Brown to win to tell you the truth. I saw pictures of his feet and they looked horrible going into the race. I saw some of the coverage of the race and it seemed his trainer (Rick Dutrow) wasn't as confident coming into this one as the Derby and Preakness. I think he knew something was up. I could tell he was beat halfway through the backstretch when Kent was asking him to run a little and he wasnt responding.
Nick Zito is an amazing trainer. He beat Smarty Jones for the triple crown with Birdstone at odds of 50-1. Granted, I never expected Da' Tara to win. But he got an easy lead and slowed the pace down and that eliminated the closers chances of winning.
Something to look at for Big Brown is that every 15 days he is supposed to get a shot of Winstrol (Steriods). Well he skipped his dose coming into the Belmont and Dutrow is known for "doping" his horses. So he didn't give Big Brown any shots 15 days before this race and the horse comes up lame. Winstrol is legal in New York so it wouldn't have been a problem.

I was wondering about the roids thing as well. Why not give it to him if it's legal?
More so though, why did he get pulled up? It's questioning the horse, not Kent. He was so much better than the other horses at the Preakness, what changed today? Do steroids do that much for a horse, or was it a combo of that and the feet. It just seemed weird that he comes in last after two great performances leading up to it.
Oh and finally, is Dutrow known for being the asshole he comes off to me as being? I don't like the guy...

Dutrow didnt give the steroid because he wanted to prove that Big Brown can win without them. Thats what he said on ESPN a couple days ago.

Like Blaze said it was more of a "prove" thing and that why he skipped the dosage. He got pulled up because he had a very smart jockey. You can see Kent asking him to run but he has nothing and the others were going by him. So Kent pulled him up knowing that he is going to finish last or pretty close. They do that if they are hurt, to prevent injury, or to save them for there next race.
As for the horses performace they think he may have got kicked early when he was really being bounced around on the rail. The only thing for Kent to do was to go to the outside to stay away from all that mess. That too will take energy from your horse and you have to remember this is a 1 1/2 race...most of them will never run that far again.
The steriods will produce more muscle for the horse and help them gain more weight which leads them running faster and longer. But it also means they will run harder and then the risk of injury is very high. Many thought Eight Belles was running with steriods because of how hard she was running...but she wasn't she was just that strong.
Dutrow has always been that way. I can remember being 6 years old and my Dad had a horse in the same race as him and Todd Pletcher. Well Dutrow went to every other trainer and told them to scratch becuase they weren't beating his horse. The horse fell down into the turn and as he was running out to the track to get his horse Pletcher yelled "thats what you get".
Sep, none so far. We had one that won on her first start but it's a filly.
