This is a good story from my backyard. Jarrell Powe, the #3 DT in the country in 2005, has finally been cleared by the NCAA, SEC, and the University of Mississippi to play football. It's been a long road for the kid. Way back when his mom was quoted as saying he couldn't read and is known to have learning disabilities. He went to Prep School for a year, but still couldn't make the grades for the 2006 class. He stuck with it and finally got accepted into the school for the 2007/2008 year but had to make the grades for the NCAA to clear him. He apparently did just that, and will get a chance to play this year. All 350 pounds of him...
It's a feel good story, and gives Ole Miss one of the best d-lines in the SEC and maybe nationally.

That's the scary part, Ole Miss is painfully easy to get into. Still I'm happy for him. I actually talked with the guy once. I was waiting on a friend of mine to get done reffing a game (I was his ride) and Jarrell was on the sidelines watching. I reconized him and chatted for a bit. Really nice guy. Maybe the biggest mfer I've ever seen though...
