I was shocked they actually went through with it but me and my Dad were actually talking about how it was time to let him go yesterday listening to the radio and all the Jets/Mangini/Favre hoopla. He was great for a lot of his time in Denver and finally brought home some rings for them but it is his time to move on.
I think Marvin Lewis or Jon Gruden may be next. It's a crime if Cincy keeps Lewis with the shape that team is in.

Shanahan was a great coach and I'm glad with what he did here. Being the HC and the VP is a tough job and he managed it very well. From what I understand, he would have been able to stay, had he given up some of his power, but he refused, thus shown the door.
Like many people have said, he just got stale in Denver. Since the championships with Elway, he only has 1 division title and hasn't won more than 1 playoff game. It was just time. It's nothing against the guy or anything.
I am glad the owner isn't going to accept this mediocrity anymore. Shanahan did great things, but it's time for him to go. Speculation is that Kubiak might be coming back to Denver.

I'm as surprised as anyone about Shanahan, but why would you want Kubiak to come back? He's essentially the same guy.
