We still have college hoops conference play, NBA, and NFL playoffs.....and spring training starts late next month.
The worst time of the year, sportswise, is when Baseball is the only sport going on. I like baseball and all but I need variety.

Agreed with blaze. The worst part of the year is when Sportscenter's Top Plays mirror Baseball Tonight's Web Gems.
EDIT: Plus, baseball sucks and it's awful and boring. So there.

Yes, summer freaking sucks. That whole 'no school' thing is a real drag.
Oh, we're talking sportswise? Oh well.

nfl is far superior to college In terms of ability, technique and coaching, David is right. HOWEVA, I think College has more passion and intensity in the regular season games as well as superior rivalries. I prefer college at this point. Though, a hundred more "Rich Rod is the devil" articles could push me towards the pro's.

i just cant have much interest in any sport where you can be the only team to win every game but not win the championship and voters decide before the season who is eligible or not.
the college football season is the only "playoff" where losing a game doesnt eliminate you but winning every game still might.

You're not this stupid. I know you're not. If Utah wants to be considered for the National Title they can play a real schedule. It sucks for them to be in the MWC, but they don't play good teams week in and week out. The struggle for the big time teams to win is depth. Playing talented teams week in and week out digs at your depth. Utah can get up for a big game or two sure, but they don't have the horses to get up for eight big games in a row. Guess what, Vandy was probably the 4th or 5th best team if they are in the MWC and they were the worst team talent wise Florida played in the SEC. BTW the playoffs right now are showing me why college football doesn't need one. The fact two 8-8 teams could theoretically be playing for the championship is a much bigger joke than Utah not having a shot at the MNC.

No power house team wants to face Utah because if they lose, they're going to get shitted on by the media and hurt their national title chances.

The fact two 8-8 teams could theoretically be playing for the championship is a much bigger joke than Utah not having a shot at the MNC. utah scheduled as tough as they realistically could and it just so happened that michigan sucked this year. Again, Mountain West went 6-1 against the Pac 10 but no one would have had a problem with USC winning the championship and we wouldnt hear about how weak the pac 10 was if they finished undefeated. Utah's strength of schedule was 56, right above Penn St. but no one would argue an undefeated Penn St. winning the championship. The worst team in the MWC (wyoming) won at tennessee which shows that gimmie games in the mwc were no easier than ones in the sec. Its time for people to stop judging teams off their name and what theyve done in the past and start looking at how widespread the talent is in college football now. You seriously dont think its a joke that a team can win every single game and not get a chance at the championship?

You seriously dont think its a joke that a team can win every single game and not get a chance at the championship? Not really. I watched Utah this year and I watched Oklahoma and Florida this year. There is no doubt in my mind those two teams are better than Utah. They didn't lose, but the point of the BCS is to put the two best teams in the national championship and guess what it worked again! All a playoff does is eliminate excuses, not crown the most worthy team. Florida and Oklahoma played tougher teams and looked stronger doing it. They deserved to be there more than Utah. You haven't dealt with the question of depth. The Tennessee/Wyoming game was an anomaly, they had just fired Fulmer and the team was in chaos. The Tennessee team that played Florida was not that. Utah doesn't face the same level of competition week in and week out and that is another reason they didn't deserve it.

The BCS never claims to put the best two teams in, just the two "ranked highest". We have no way of knowing who between florida, oklahoma, texas, usc, and utah are the two "best" teams, everyone just has their own opinion from watching games. I dont think utah is the best (and I define the better team as the one who would win greater than 50% of the time on a true neutral field), but no american sport crowns the "best" team as champion, just the one that gets hot at the right time. Sometimes its the best team (kansas last year in basketball), most of the times though with a playoff system the best team doesnt win it all (patriots).

The point is to rank the two best teams at 1 and 2. That's the goal. The BCS rewards a team for their overall season instead of getting hot like a playoff would. It's imperfect, but better than a playoff.
Yeah though, no American sport does. Baseball could. Everyone plays a home and home three game series with every team in the league. Best record wins. Just like soccer. Would ruin the tradition of NL and AL though.

Give me college football. Maybe it's because my pro football team has sucked the big one the last few years, but I love the pageantry and tradition of the college game.
